Oddly enough, holding her hand didn't seem like that big of a deal to him. At least not right then, when no one was staring at him and wondering when he was going to realize what he was doing. He didn't do well under intense scrutiny, particularly where his emotions were concerned. He preferred it when he simply acted without thinking about what he was doing or what it meant. Instinct was a much easier thing to follow when it wasn't being scrutinized.
He raised his eyebrow at her suggestion that there was a gift waiting for him. "You know I hate chocolate," he responded, "it's not really a gift for me if you're going to eat it." With the way her hands were pressed to his thighs and the way she smiled at him, he almost thought she was referring to something a little naughtier than chocolate ... but then again, this was Katie Bell. Double knotting her trainers was naughty for her.
He snorted at her bargaining, brushing a quick kiss to her lips. "Well, that is very tempting. I don't know how I'd ever pass up the very slight possibility of a massage. How ever did I manage to resist your charm for so long."
