Katie fell back into the rhythm much easier than she'd though she would. It really shouldn't have been that surprising as muscle memory played a very large part of any athlete's career but she'd been slightly nervous about this injury and the fact that her head might forget what her heart knew she was made for. The moment she was in the air, life flowed through her. The slightly glum feeling that had settled over her was gone and she just let the wind take away all the pain and the smell of grass and cold air burn through her. It was perfect. She glanced at Marcus, surprised that this is what he came up for Valentine's Day. It was perfect and she fell just a little bit more in love with him. His first throw was hard as fuck and Katie caught it easily. Four hours later, her body was screaming and she was dripping sweat.
Touching down, she dropped to the pitch, rolling over on her back and staring up at the evening sky. The sun was setting and the temperature was dropping but she didn't care. This had been the best Valentine's Day ever. Marcus had run her through the bloody ringer and she felt fucking amazing. There was nothing like Quidditch. Not a damn thing. Sex with Marcus came pretty close but she loved this sport more than life and that little piece that had been missing had fallen right into place. She looked at Marcus, giving him a smile as he touched down.
"You know how to show a girl a good time," she teased, sliding her sweaty shirt off and throwing it behind her. She knew she looked awful but she was pretty sure Marcus didn't care. Her hair was in a messy pony-tail, sweat running down the side of her face and her stomach glistened with their intense workout. Four hours was only half of what she normally did but she was pretty satisfied with that. She'd throw in another four tomorrow and by the end of next week she'd be ready to go in time for their first game.
Stretching out in nothing but her Quidditch pants and a bright blue sports bra, Katie sighed, contentedly, sliding her arms above her head. Her breathing was slowing and returning to normal as she met Marcus's gaze. "What?" she asked, raising a brow.
