Valentine's Day was not something Marcus celebrated. Well, that's not entirely true. He went out on Valentine's day for the simple fact that the bars were littered with twice as many scantily clad women, who were all the more desperate for a bit of attention. Alright, so a lot of them had the whole "happily ever after" ideal running through their skulls, but that could be overlooked on occasion. As it were, however, he was pretty sure he wasn't allowed to do that anymore. Monogamy 101, or something. So instead, he'd dragged Katie's sorry arse out onto the pitch. He was tired of having to play with the reserves and the sooner she got back in the air, the sooner he didn't have to hold back anymore.
Management wasn't entirely in agreement about her being back in the air already, but Marcus was of the opinion that they didn't know shit, anyway. Wasn't like they played. Most of them just sat on their arses during games and were lucky if they caught half the game. He said she needed to be back in the air and that was enough for him. With no practice and no game scheduled for that day, they had the pitch to themselves. Unsurprisingly, he didn't ease her back in, either. It was straight into their usual training, which he highly doubted she'd complain about. No point with baby steps, they had hardly the time for it.
Working through their entire playbook of plays, Marcus was feeling a little more like himself. There was a certain level of skill he was used to playing with and those idiot reserves had not been up to par. It'd been like sitting through a dance class when you already knew the steps. Dodging one of the bludgers that had been charmed to interact, he whipped the quaffle where he knew Katie would be, as he moved to the next mark. As usual, he didn't hold anything back and a part of him hoped she'd catch it. Management was going to throw a fit if he took her off her broom the first time he'd let her back in the air.
