Susan slipped her arms around Charlie and hugged him back. He smelled good, like campfire and grass. Earthy. She smiled softly at the feel of his lips against her temple. It was a sweet, tender kiss and only added to her confusion.
Seeing the little boy, Susan's smile fell for just a moment. She couldn't understand how something like this could happen. She was raised to be traditional. Living with Seamus had sent her mother into a tizzy, but even then Susan would have never had a child before she was married. It simply didn't fit into her thought process. But, there he was. Tiny and young with bright red hair and Susan couldn't help herself. She fell in love with that little boy in a second.
Kneeling down, Susan smiled at Leo. "You can just call me Susie," she said.
