Clint had to admit that it was fairly strange that Lexi was willing to share Marcus with Bell. It was well known that she didn't share well and didn't play well with other girls. However, her and Lexi seemed to enjoy their friendship well enough. Still weird, however. He was happy enough to watch the drama unfold in front of him. His dislike for Bell was more out of habit than anything else. They'd been competing against each other for a very long time. She was, statistically speaking, a better chaser than him and she and Marcus had been battling it out for that number one spot for a very long time. Katie was good but Marcus was better. If she'd played for Falmouth? Girl would be unstoppable.
Katie's cheeks flamed again and she shot an annoyed glare at Marcus. "I didn't tell you to strip," she groaned, wondering how she had ended up here. "And I've seen it all before." She met his gaze, a slightly amused smile curving her lips. "It's not like you're at all shy about what you've got under there."
Her head whipped towards Lexi at the lyrics and her eyes narrowed. Katie and Marcus had been needling each other, fighting, yelling, screaming for as long as she could remember. He'd flirted. She'd rejected his advances. She'd punched, he'd kicked. It was the general nature of their relationship. She'd been twelve and had never once bothered to back down to anything he'd thrown her way. Not once and she didn't plan on that happening now. So yeah, maybe there was tension between them but it had always been there. It was so ingrained into their natures that if they ever managed to be friendly, the earth would probably stop spinning.
Clint burst into laughter and raised his glass to his lips. "It's a good thing you're an excellent curse breaker," he teased at her general off key. He glanced between Katie and Marcus, both looking slightly horrified at Lexi's statement. "You have to admit," he said, grinning. "It's true. You're practically destined to be star-crossed lovers."
