"Oh, no. No push-ups." She knew he was joking but she wanted to be nice and clear about that from word go. P.E. class was always an excellent one to ditch.
"An apology and a little time," Lou added. "Show that you're still her friend, and that'll probably go a long way. Just don't forget you may need time too. Guts take a while to heal for everyone." So he didn't need to go pretending he was superman.
"Totally," Lou hugged him with that way guys hug each other, one armed and odd. As she did, she grinned wide and teased him, "You hug like a guy." Continuity. She thought it was appropriate given their battle of the sexes conversation earlier. But deep down, Lou was thrilled for the hug. It was nice and made her feel like she hadn't screwed things up. If this continued, she just might start becoming a reliable person for the hugs alone.
