For a minute he was sure she'd be wanting to bail out, but when she actually had some advice on hand, Gus relaxed and nodded as she spoke. She was talking more sense than he was thinking, and he was a little relieved that the quiet common sense he'd been ignoring was confirmed by Lou. He even smirked when she made her comment about relationships - there was a universal truth, right?
"They're definitely someone who's had it rough," he said. He would've been less candid if he knew that Lucy actually knew who he was talking about, but there was no helping it now, "But Lou, after what happened with Francine... I can't go through all that again, you know? I don't want a relationship founded solely on the physical anymore. I don't want someone who I don't know, who won't even tell me who they are."
He sighed heavily and shook his head. Gus wasn't meaning to get all somber on her, but it had been bothering him, and he had no one else to really talk to about.
Trying to lighten up a little, he said, "Guess I'm getting picky in my old age."
