"Yeah me too," Gus said, although he was grinning at her reaction, "What, too far? C'mon, Lou, you're having a beer and eating cake in my place. Aren't we friends?"
Christ, the women in his life were impossible. He really needed some male friends to talk to if he couldn't even discuss relationship problems with someone he considered a friend.
"Nothing happened," he said, "It could have, and twenty years ago it would have but... I don't know, Lou. Even drunk, I couldn't go through with it. I'm not sure if it's because I'm older and wiser or because I turned into a big wuss at some point."
Gus sure as hell couldn't talk to Justice about this, and he kind of had Lucy cornered. Maybe if he put himself out there, though, she'd be more inclined to be less closed off herself?
Yeah, because that worked great with Justice. Now he didn't think he could even make eye contact with her - he'd spilled his guts and she'd reinforced the brick wall she kept around herself.
