Explosions and cake were just what she needed. It was a good night. Banter and fun but also cake and movie. It surprised her how nice it was to sit quietly too. Not the same as joking around, but it was good in its own way.
Lou almost choked on her mouthful of cake. Her eyes started to water and she had to try a couple of times to clear her throat before her lungs would remember to breathe. She supposed it was a little late to play ignorant now - damn cake - but she tried to anyway. "Oh? I'm, um," what was someone supposed to say to that, "sorry to hear that?" What on earth had he done that Justice wouldn't even let him call a cab? And people thought she was complicated. Lou decided she had nothing on Gus. Maybe he was just a complication magnet.
This didn't bode well for keeping things awkward-free. She could have winced. If he'd play along, she'd forget he'd ever said anything about it. They could still just finish the movie.
