"Nah," she shook her head. "Women invented beer. Guys just like to think they did." Since it was all about the battle of the sexes, she wasn't gonna let her team down if she could help it. Whether or not she was really allied with them could be hashed out later. Girls were so persnickety . And like so many others, Lou could stand her own faults even less when reflected in others. She knew she was a headcase even if she didn't admit it.
She was just glad that things could be OK right now. Beer, a movie, and hanging out. Maybe if there were enough okay days, the memories and times when things weren't would get buried and forgotten. She could go for that. There were a lot of mistakes she'd like to forget. So long as no one brought them up, she could make herself believe that it was all behind her until next time. She took the chance to finish her food when he got up.
She hadn't entirely finished the beer she was working on and normally she'd pace herself a little better, but it was a point of pride. Anyway, she could always say yes now and not end up drinking it. "Sure. That'd be great." She couldn't let the Die Hard comment slide. "And Bonnie Bedelia's character might not be any John McClane, but she's badass in her own right. Definitely not the typical damsel in distress, so don't go implying this movie's not for girls." That lady kept a level head in a tough situation. More movies needed to do that better.
