Lucy looked up at him, her eyes going big and round as she did her best impression of youthful innocence. "You don't think I'm 'delightful'?" She was able to hold the pose for a moment before breaking down into laughter. She waved her hand as though to say, 'just teasing, just teasing.' She'd been and still was a thorn in her family's side. There were some walls there that she and her mother would never let down around each other. She'd never let her mother know how much she craved her approval and reassurance that she wouldn't leave. And Lou's mom would never offer it in anything as simple as words.
"Definitely. Should have been enough time to pre-heat." Lou was starting to feel that gnawing feeling in her stomach that told her she'd gone too long after her workout before refueling. Cake sooner rather than later would be good. Sadly, "It'll probably take about 30 minutes, but I don't know your oven. Happen to know if she's got a temper?" Some ovens were like that and would heat unevenly. It wasn't so different from cars. They all had their own personalities.
