Lucy would have been there faster but she'd taken the time to dry her hair. She didn't want to ruin things by giving him one more reason to lecture her, and cold, wet hair wasn't going to be okay even by her standards for the weather. Her car pulled up and she parked out in front of his house, but she made sure to slip her arms through her jacket before she jumped down and made her way to the door.
Even so, it was late enough that the cold really bothered her. She rang the doorbell then rubbed her hands together. Heading outside after having hopped a shower at the gym wasn't her ideal situation, but she'd be inside again in a minute and that would make things better.
It didn't hit her until she was standing on his doorstep; she should have run to the market first and picked up some baking supplies. She didn't expect that he kept a lot of that stuff on hand. Oh, well. If they needed something, then one or both of them could run out and pick it up again; though the idea of going out again made her shiver from more than the cold. Self-defense classes were going well but maybe she'd take him up on that offer to show her a thing or two. It couldn't hurt.
It'd helped to externalize her fixation. Once it became a matter of knowing that she could defend herself, it eased the part of her mind that kept cycling back on if she'd know when to. That part couldn't be answered so it'd just have to wait. Hopefully, that kind of situation would never come up again.
