Gus was smiling and shaking his head at her reprimand and her advice. It wasn't unwarranted or unwelcome, and it wasn't bad advice, but he didn't think she needed to worry about him. He'd survived his divorce, after all. He could bounce back.
"Oh, hell no," Gus made a horrified face, "I'm not that far gone. I just need to work off the winter weight, that's all. Changing my diet is way more effort than I'm going to bother with. I'm in my forties, Lou, I gotta live a little."
Gus backtracked a little, "And you don't have to worry about me, Lou. I mostly just asked Marion out to prove to myself I could do it. Besides, I've got you and Justice to let me know if I'm being an idiot. That's a damned good safety net."
