She wasn't certain she believed the excuse, but Lou found herself not wanting to cling on to the feeling of rejection. Things had been hard enough lately. And if he had avoided her, it was nothing less than she deserved. She knew guilt should have eaten away at her for not telling him about locking her keys in her car, but even now she didn't feel the need to let him know. If they could just go back to being on okay terms, she'd be grateful.
She reached out her hand and shook his solidly. "Don't worry about it. You didn't do anything but treat me the way I deserved from how I was acting." All except the threatening to haul her in for indecent exposure; she still didn't think she'd deserved that one. And she did dress in layers. She wasn't completely insane.
Lucy looked back over her shoulder to where class had just gotten out. "The whole self-defense thing, it's pretty... interesting." Or whatever the right word for it was. Centering, maybe. She didn't know how useful it'd be in the real world when she got into situations where she was fighting more with herself than anyone else, but here and now it helped her rebuild a place of calm.
