Ella felt an inexplicable surge of pride and accomplishment at the approval in Isabel's voice. She gave her a smile and felt the smallest of blushes tinge her cheeks. Why was she blushing? She glanced back down at her lap and waited for her cheeks to cool before she looked up again.
She nodded at Isabel's question, but then as she went on to describe it as a date and she squirmed slightly in her seat. It wasn't that she had anything against going out with women, she'd had her share of makeouts with girlfriends. But she'd never had an employer so blatantly hit on her. Well, it felt like she was being hit on, anyway.
"Oh, well... I really enjoy music. I play the flute and have just started trying to compose my own songs. I like to garden and I'm looking forward to putting some flowers on my balcony in the spring. In my downtime I like to read. I'm somewhat of a book worm. I have just come in from England, and so I am really going to enjoy getting to know new people and this new environment." She was doing a horrible job of selling herself to the woman, she was sure, but she was pretty sure that aside from music their interests were completely different.
"I'm really just looking to start fresh. Make something of myself." She shrugged helplessly. She was awful on first dates.
