The receptionist directed Ella into the office with a smile. It was a little intimidating to walk into an office where the interviewer was just sitting behind the desk, waiting and watching her approach. She gave Isabel a nervous smile and tried to make the walk across the posh office with a confidence she was pretty sure was see through.
The smaller woman leaned across the desk and Ella leaned in to meet her, taking her hand and shaking it, firmly but not overly so. She let go and took the seat she was offered. She crossed her legs, settling her resume in her lap. This was a hard copy printed on nice paper with a cover letter. "Oh, here's my resume and a coupe of recommendations I don't think were included with my emailed application." She leaned forward and lay the papers on Isabel's desk.
"First, I would just like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview for this position. I just arrived in town a couple of days ago, so I was really surprised to find an opening I was interested in so quickly." She gave another smile, this one less nervous. Once she got talking, especially about work, she was more at ease.
