Fuck the weather. There was no way on the goddess’ green earth that she was spending another minute cooped up. It was clear enough and she could find ways to keep warm, dammit. Ok, maybe not that clear. But fuck. She just, she couldn’t do it anymore. It was a toss-up between The Experience and the lake. Just because of the hour, she’d chosen the latter.
Thanks to Gus, her car was running just fine. Lou almost missed the distraction. Worrying if her engine was going to fail had given her something to do. Idle hands. In jeans, a few layers of sweaters, and a sweatshirt, she wasn’t exactly dressed for jogging. It wasn’t a pastime she enjoyed or endorsed, but she hadn’t noticed anyone around to stop her. As she’d left the car, she'd been taken by the urge to run. She didn’t care where or how far. She just didn’t want to be here anymore.
Lou didn’t even stop as she pushed play on her ipod. Journey started blaring. ‘Any way you want it,’ yeah right. But it was a good song to move to. This was probably an incredibly stupid thing to do. At the very least, she was going to end up catching her death. She could see her breath so she closed her eyes when she felt she could risk it. If every sense was overwhelmed, she could block out the whole goddamned world. It seemed like a good idea, which was why she was so sure it would bite her ass in the end. And not in the fun way, she thought to herself. Maybe she’d end up hitting The Experience later after all. There wasn’t anyone to stop her. She could do whatever the hell she wanted.
So why wasn’t she happy? Lou ran faster, not liking that her thoughts were catching up to her without permission. It was tricky going to find a space where she could really move over the terrain.
