Gus laughed, good-naturedly and gave her another gentle elbow, since a pat on the shoulder would cover whatever he touched in grease.
"Hey, you know what you want," he said, "Nothing wrong with that. I sure as hell hope my daughter has that mindset for awhile. And my son. Last thing my ego could take is being called Grandpa before I'm at least fifty."
He didn't entirely agree with her, even now, but Gus knew settling down wasn't for everyone. It must be hell having that attitude in a small town, though, where the rules were a little different. A lot different, in some cases. Gus didn't think it was his place to extol the virtues of monogamy, both because she more than likely didn't want to hear it, and he had been divorced two years.
"You should have fun when you're young," he said, going with something that wouldn't ring false, "By the time I was your age I was changing diapers. I don't regret it, but sure as hell wasn't ready, either."
