Joey had spent a long, tough day at The Bon Secours Doctors Volunteer Clinic. Being the only official doctor on staff and the office manager kept Joey running each and every day, because he couldn’t always rely on having the staff of doctors that he needed and he had to fill in wherever there were holes. If he weren’t a nephilim, Joey wasn’t sure it would be possible to work the way he did and save all the lives he was responsible for saving.
He was home now and, after a quick shower and a bite to eat, he fixed submarine sandwiches to take down to Lake Ridge and Nor-Ex for the homeless and poor. He decided on four types: Ham and Cheese, Meatball, Cold Cut and Chicken Salad. Joey’s sandwiches were stuffed with ingredients and made with only the best; his dad always had him make him a sandwich, whenever he stopped by.
The young nephilim tried to make it to the poor and dangerous parts of town at least three or four times a week, his schedule permitting. Many of the people he visited regularly counted on Joey for food to put in their mouths. He recently started supplying soup with his large submarine sandwiches, buying disposable containers and spoons for just that purpose.
After loading his pearl-white Nissan Quest Minivan, Joey climbed in, put on some mellow tunes and headed for the poor side of town.
