One beer alone hadn't been enough to get to Lucy, but what he promised about this new drink was true. It was sweet and strong. It also appealed to her tactile needs - her desire to touch and feel different textures and sensations. That and the comfortable dulling of all her worries promised by ever little tug of the straw made her forget to be cautious in how she paced herself. She couldn't help it. She didn't want to. There had been so many worries, so much wariness, that right now she wanted anything that would make her forget it all.
She liked how he could tease right back. To her mind, that's what he was doing when he described her job as some sort of den of iniquity. His concerns about the salt though were frustrating. Too much real world. She sighed. "You and half this town. Can't hardly push salted caramel." Which was a pity. Lou liked sea salt caramel candies. She tried to circle back to the more absurd. It beat out reality any day.
Lou held up her hands, palms facing forward in a sign of surrender. "You got me. I have a terrible penchant for evil. The darker the chocolate, the better. And if that means devising temptations without some ingredients," she shrugged, "I'm not above it."
She paused to think for a minute. Salt-free was sometimes tricky but not impossible if the right substitutions were made. "Hm. Devil's food cupcakes, totally. But also amaretto truffles and chocolate mousse cream puffs." Since she was trying to go with his theme of temptation, they were all the types of desserts that could be used to tempt a lover. Easy finger foods that teased the taste buds. "And chocolate-dipped strawberries of course. Not very creative but classic. There's a reason people will do pretty much anything for them." Or with them, but she didn't say that part out loud. They were still just teasing.
