She grinned at him when he lumbered into the diner and took a seat across from her. "Hi, Gus." She shrugged at his question. "It's going. Slow, but I should be finished in another two semesters." She'd have an associates in criminal justice and ... well, she wasn't sure what she was going to do after that.
"Whatcha been up to?" She closed her menu and put it at the edge of the table just as a waitress walked up to take their drink orders. "I'll have water." She glanced at Gus, waiting for him to make his selection, then she looked back at the waitress. "I think we might be ready to order."
Once their orders were placed, she returned her attention to the big man across the table from her. They'd been interrupted by the waitress' presence before he could answer her last question, so she leaned forward slightly to give him her full attention now.
