She’s pretty sure there’s something she’s not catching, because the look is totally obvious, sure, but she’s really not used to such blatant flirtation right off the bat like this, so she’s... probably reading that wrong. Yep. Which is probably because of the tone of voice he's using, but she doesn't know what else that could be. And so she just sort of smiles shyly and fidgets in place. He's just friendly, that's all.
She really hopes this is the dude she’s supposed to be waiting for. Because if there’s any sort of actual help she’s supposed to be giving other than what she was told? Yeah, that’s not gonna go down right, and she crosses her fingers for just a second before she notices it, because she really doesn’t want to screw this up. She wants Aaron to be able to trust her to handle things.
Or just in general.
>"I'm Jed. Walker." He reaches out a hand and she shakes it with a bright smile. Yep, that was the name she was given. Awesome. "Looks like we're working together.”
“I’m Anna,” she responds cheerfully, “Cassie told me you were coming. I’m supposed’a give you the tour.” She fidgets in place a little for a second, and then her smile turns sheepish, “Uh, but I’ve only been here like two weeks, so here’s hoping we don’t get lost!”
Even though it sounds sort of lighthearted and a little like she’s kidding, she’s actually pretty much completely serious. Because, really, she’s been having an interesting time trying to navigate the place when she’s not accompanied by Aaron or Cassie, and then she was just going from her room to the kitchen or the bathroom or downstairs as far as this office area and back...
She’s never actually tried wandering in the basement alone, and if it’s anything like the old hideout (not thinking about the old hideout), she’s liable to be stuck down there for weeks. Or forever. And then she’d die, and Aaron would never find her, and he’d think she left again, and oh God she really doesn’t know if this is a good idea.
But there’s no one else here who can do it, so...
“Upstairs first, I guess. Save the basement for after, so if we get lost and die slowly of, like, starvation down there, you’ll have at least had half the tour first.” She darts off towards the stairs and pauses a few steps up to wait for him to catch up so she doesn't go disappearing off and being rude or whatever.
