Redford had guessed that the mimic show was to prove that he had no weapons, so he went along with it easily enough, one eyebrow cocked in curiosity. It was only when they turned back in the direction of the desk that he noticed that the smell of metal and gunpowder was stronger here. Guns. Maybe not even near here, but the people here dealt with them.
Jed had told him that they were going shopping. For guns?
He still considering this in the back of his mind when Jed pulled him aside, and Redford tried to focus his concentration on just him. There were so many people near here, so many new scents, a building full of corners and hallways that he didn't know.
Redford ended up nodding jerkily anyway. Sure. He was fine. Jed was obviously having fun here, and he didn't want to ruin that. As long as he could concentrate on one thing, and try to not think about all the things that he didn't know about this place, he'd be okay.
He hadn't quite managed to pull up a polite smile when he was introduced to Evelyn, though. She was new. Redford didn't know if she was going to shoot him in the back of the head at any moment.
"Why do you need more guns?" If Redford guessed correctly, Jed would be wearing no less than six or eight pieces of weaponry right now. Surely there had to be a point where he literally couldn't carry any more for fear of not being able to walk?
