Going out into public areas, well, it wasn't something that Redford did often. To say the least. This officially marked the first time that he'd been out in public this month, and it showed.
He liked to think that he was getting a little better at human interaction - Jed was good for that. Jed didn't care about rules or what he was, and maybe being dragged out into public for Jed's sake was exactly what Redford needed. One step at a time, that sort of thing.
Still, it didn't mean that Redford was happy about having to deal with people.
The taxi driver had gotten the silent treatment, and the lady that had asked if he'd been lost had gotten a similar deal. Redford had only been standing outside this building for ten minutes, it wasn't that long. He just needed time to gather up his courage and walk inside.
Okay. Right foot first. Then left. It was just a building full of people. It couldn't be that bad, right? But some of them might cluster and stand too close together and there was a guy standing near the door that looked like he could crack a skull like a watermelon, and-
Deep breaths. It's okay. Jed's there.
Five minutes later, and a considerable amount of saying, "I'm with Jed Walker," to security people, and Redford was making his way into the office, shoulders hunched. Thank god Jed was there, otherwise Redford was seriously considering just going back to his house.
