Redford was pretty sure that having a gun would not keep him safe. What had he heard once, from someone that he'd walked by in the street? That a household gun was more likely to be used against you? Something like that.
But if it made Jed feel better, then Redford would learn how to use a gun. He could do that.
He wasn't sure if there was a proper, human way to be acting right now - social manners, and all of that - so he let himself have a moment, resting his cheek against Jed's shoulder. When he was this close, all Redford could smell was Jed, and it helped. Thinking about the collar helped, too. Jed was in control of the situation, and he'd tell Redford if he was doing anything wrong.
Okay. This was fine. He could do this.
Taking a deep breath, Redford straightened his shoulders, and pulled back a little to show Jed that yes, he could do this. He could be in the company of people and not freak out. "I can do that. For you."
Redford kind of got the idea that they were maybe being... he didn't know, rude, by completely excluding the other person in the room. So he nudged Jed's shoulder a little, tipping his chin in Evelyn's direction. After all, the quicker they brought these guns, the quicker he could get out of here.
