The SdV house was something Elijah would hate to be without. He could certainly afford to live on his own, but it was very appealing to be amongst others of his own kind, to feel that sense of trust of the others having his back and vice versa. There was a protection in it, and if it was the closest to family that he ever got again, he could do a lot worse.
He smiled at her and nodded, somehow feeling less restless and calmed by their discussion of the past. "They weren't rich, but we were always comfortable, had everything we needed." It had been expensive to plant and harvest and process the kinds of crops they'd had, and that had eaten up much of the take. Still, they'd had no complaints. Well, until the family's oldest son had vanished.
Elijah's expression clouded slightly at the mention of daylight charms. "I've never known a witch I trusted enough to ask for one," he said matter-of-factly. "Perhaps I'll mention it to her." In a strange way it felt like cheating, and he wasn't sure he wanted to do it, but he'd keep his odd feelings about it to himself. He fell silent too, turning his head to watch the full descent of the sun below the horizon. As always, an awe-inspiring sight.
