Running. That's what she had been doing for hours now and yet it was doing little to help her agitation. Pausing at a red light Anais leaned over to stretch out, touching her toes as she stretched her back. Standing up once more she exhaled slowly, more annoyed now than anything. She did a series of runner stretches, stretching her arms and legs as if she should have been sore but she wasn't, in fact she hadn't even broken a sweat. She was barely exerting herself running so slowly compared to what she was capable of but given the fact that she was out in the open she didn't think it wise to run her fastest, despite the urge pulling at her to do just that. Once the light changed she jogged lightly across the street, not even daring to glance up to the night sky. Even though it was cloudy, the moon still shone bright in the sky, peaking in on her through the breaks in the clouds. It called to her, so loudly that she could barely keep her head focused on the task at hand. More than once she had been so distracted by it that she had almost ran smack into someone. Thankfully she had been able to quickly maneuver around them but she wasn't sure how much longer she was going to keep her head from floating up beyond the clouds. She felt like an addict, scratching and pulling on her skin desperate for her next fix, desperate for the night to come where she could shed her skin and embrace her true nature. It was so close she could imagine exactly what it would be, the freedom, the exhilaration and this time, the company. That was really what she was looking most forward to on Sunday, not being alone. She would have someone, even possibly multiple someones to run with and to share that night with like she always used to. Being alone was awful and she would fully admit that to herself now. She had made due, but it was not what she wanted when it came time to shift. She had been raised as a pack creature, or more appropriately, as a jamboree creature as that was what a group of jaguars was called. Her family never let her go out alone and she never had a want for it. It was boring being by yourself, having someone else around made the night worth it, made it that much more fun and thrilling. Lost in her thoughts, Anais didn't notice herself slightly picking up speed, her body running on autopilot while her mind traveled miles away. She went from a jog, to a run, to a full on sprint all while deftly avoiding obstacles. Just when it looked like things were starting to blur, she managed to come back to herself, slowing down to a brisk walk as once again she came upon a street light not turned in her favor. Still not exhausted, or even panting she stopped at the light and stretched, looking around and hoping no one had really been paying attention to her or how fast she was running. She used the excuse of straightening out her outfit to survey her surroundings, readjusting her shorts and sports bra all while looking around for signs of anyone, hoping that at least if anyone had been around they were supernatural and wouldn't think her strange. |
