Dahlia's question was random; yet one she'd wondered ever since the zombies had flooded the city. The way Janos reacted made her wonder if no vampire here actually new the truth to the question. She frowned slightly; an almost pout as the reality of what that could mean took hold. There had to be other necromancers out there. Maybe the next one wouldn't be so...visible with what they were doing. Maybe they'd just control one or two vampires to make a mess. Which vampires could easily do. It was a bad thought. "I wouldn't want one playing with my head." her own head was a mess enough at times with added influence. "Maybe it's not true." she added; hopeful. If she ever saw Silivasi again maybe she'd ask her. If she remembered.
Filing the question away for later Dahlia was surprised by Janos's laughter; she hadn't really meant to make any kind of joke but apparently she had. It made a blush lightly color very pale cheeks; eyes glancing away back in search of ghosts. Ghosts she understood. Ghosts she was familiar with. Janos....she didn't, and wasn't.
A feeling of discontent seemed to grow within Dahlia as they walked. Each step further into the house they took with no ghost seen made Dahlia feel as though something were wrong. It wasn't that Dai was always there; there were times she disappeared for hours. But always she returned if Dahlia thought of her; as though summoned. Now even as she thought of her twin the visage of her remained unseen. Why was she hiding?
She tried to focus beyond her worry; to keep attention to the vampire that was real and in front of her rather than the ghosts she was so accustomed with. Janos was...strange. It wasn't the right word but it was the best Dahlia could come up with.
Carefully she moved through the dusty attic of the SdV house; fingers tracing lightly over old boxes and cluttered shelves. She hadn't spent any time up here....but it looked like no one had in a long time. The corners were filled with cobwebs and the floor beneath them creaked and groaned even with her light steps. Dahlia wasn't sure what to look for but she looked still...
This. Dahlia turned; intrigue coloring her features as he presented his findings. Much like before...Dahlia had not been expecting to see what she now saw. Blue eyes widened and immediately she moved forward; touching the painting tentatively as though it would break beneath her fingers. "I remember this..." her voice was soft; a hush really as she examined something that it felt she made lifetimes ago.
Yet she could recall every brush stroke. Every moment she had debated over color. Every word muttered to her twin as she sat huddled in the cold garage determined to finish it despite the turning weather.
She missed her garage...
"You found where I used to live." maybe he'd gone back after he took her to SdV. Maybe she had told him where she lived and just didn't remember. She expected that to be the answer, a simple explanation, an easy solution.
But as her fingers traced along the brushstrokes as though she were painting it anew a thought flittered across her mind. "...you took it." Had he found her and not the house later? Was it...
Brows creased and her hand fell away from the painting; dropping almost limp to her side. "You saved me?"
