Lexi looked around her shop as she prepared for the grand opening event. It had been a lot of work to get it ready for this day. Everything was looking good though. She had set up a table with the books that she was giving away today. That was if anyone came. She had put flyers up over town and advertised in the newspaper as well. Still with everything going on in the town she wondered if anyone would come by. She had set up lights along the top of the walls near the ceiling in a decorative manner that would help mask any flashes from the crystals she had displayed above the door. Everyone was welcome in her shop, she just wanted to know who or what was coming through her door.
She hoped that today would go off without a hitch. She even remembered to turn the shop lights on. Usually when she was working the lights around the top of the walls were enough light for her. Being a Shadowmancer she tended to prefer the low light and sometimes forgot that others had difficulty seeing in it.
She began pacing nervously after she unlocked the front doors. Bartok sensing her nervousness flew down from his perch and landed on her shoulder, bumping her cheek with his head and ruffling his feathers at her until she pet him. She had named her shop for him. He was her long time companion and she felt whole only when he was near her. She wondered if her brother still had his raven. They had been a gift from their parents on their 18th birthday. She hoped that he still had his, the thought and the hope that he did gave her some comfort.
Lexi didn't want to think about these things right now, she had a shop to run and there was plenty of time to wonder after the shop was closed. She lift her arm slightly to send Bartok back to his perch, then she stepped behind the counter to wait for her first customer.
