After having a much needed talk with Stefan, Elena was ready to move on with her day. It had been nice to see him and get the sort of closure they sorely lacked with the way the sire bond had interrupted... one too many things. Not to mention the whole lacking humanity bit. She would never stop apologizing for that. Elena saw absolutely no reason for anyone to forgive her, but she was glad that they all seemed to have. Eternally grateful for as much, she intended to put those concerns to rest while enjoying a date with her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend. Damon Salvatore.

Stopping in front of a dress shop, Elena nearly flushed at the thought. She was with Damon now. Decisive as her feelings for him were now, she hadn't taken a total step back to acknowledge the situation with a clearer head. After all the misery and strife, they had found their way to each other. This wasn't the outcome she had expected when walking into the boarding house for the very first time and being witlessly charmed by Damon's greeting. Damon had certainly worked hard to find a place as her friend, then before she knew it--he had become one of the very best when she'd needed one the most.

It wasn't Stefan's fault that things had changed between them. While her feelings for him remained, the romance of them had faded. Elena would still do anything for him, but the spark that had existed--well, she couldn't retrace the very point where it had faded, only that it had and she hadn't altogether wanted to face that. With the way he had acted after she became a vampire, she knew that was just a catalyst for pursuing what she had resisted wanting before dying at all.

Elena couldn't help but to smile in spite of all the hardships now, if only because she had bravely followed her heart this time.

Just for that, she intended to procure a saucy little number to surprise Damon at the boarding house with that evening. Hopefully he let them get out of the house with it on, not that she was complaining. Elena just wanted to have something of an actual date with him. He was always up for dancing with her, too, which may have been one of her favorite things about him. Not that she had a list or anything.

After finding the right outfit, Elena returned to the boarding house after dark to change in one of the spare rooms so she could surprise him. New shoes and all, she sped her way to his room--their room, and opened the door. Standing in the doorway, shoulder against the frame and right hand resting on her hip, she called out for him. "Attention Damon Salvatore, your girlfriend is primped and pretty. Come out and show her a good time, hmmm?"

Damon was happy to be taking Elena out for the evening. He was glad that they were doing something normal like going on a date. He knew that she needed that kind of normalcy back in her life and he was glad that he was the one that got to share that with her and help her to experience it with her.

He felt like he was living on a cloud of some sort since discovering that Elena's feelings were real and he couldn't seem to keep the smile off his face. She was in love with him, and they were properly dating now. When he had first met Elena, his intentions had been to mess with her a little to annoy his brother while he waited to find a way to get Katherine out of the tomb. But somehow she had wormed her way into his heart, enough to make him feel helplessly in love with her.

Damon wasn't sure at what point he had managed to worm his way into Elena's heart, but he didn't care in the slightest. What mattered was that he was there and she wasn't resisting it any longer, wasn't pretending she didn't feel anything. He had to wonder how much of her resistance was to do with her feelings for Stefan and how much was to do with the fact she doubted that her friends would accept her being with him, considering what Bonnie and Elena thought of him.

He took a shower and walked into his bedroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. He pulled off the towel and started to get dressed. He had just finished pulling his jeans on when he heard Elena. He looked over at her and his jaw dropped a little. "Wow... You look... wow," he said.

"Sorry, I'm not quite ready yet," he said, pulling on his shirt and starting to button it up. "But you're making me want to rip that dress off you and have my wicked way with you," he said as he finished buttoning his shirt and then grabbing his cologne to put some on and then he walked over to, placing his hands on her hips. "You look ravishing," he said, lowering his head to press a firm kiss to her lips.

After all the tears and all the guilt, it was more than refreshing to have a chance just to breathe. Fairly certain he could use the break as much as she could, what with the drama surrounding her return to humanity, Elena was more than happy to distract her beau with a sassy dress and some killer moves. Provided they made it out of the house, which they had better--she had spent the better part of her afternoon trying to find the right outfit for the evening.

Visibly pleased by the effect she had on him, Elena also flustered. She wasn't quite so zealous anymore, not without the sense that nothing mattered, and that made her feel even better. Despite the awful hole Jeremy's death left behind, Elena could glimpse happiness again. And he was quite sculpted. Certainly not the only one temporarily dumbfounded either.

Elena watched him earnestly, not at all hiding the way she appreciated his physique. It made her nostalgic. How many times had he waltzed out of his room like this, even naked, just to get a rise out of her? She had averted her gaze countless times with a flurry of irritation for his nature. There had never honestly been a question of whether Elena was physically attracted to Damon, it was the often less than charming attitude he displayed when things became bumpy.

She hadn't been much better. Elena's tendency to lash out at him never went unnoticed, deny it though she did. Constantly placing him in the wrong, she still wondered how he soldiered through her own fair share of poor treatment and loved her all the same. Somewhere along the way, too, it had seemed like he'd given up pursuing her--at least that was how it appeared. Considerate of her situation at all times, he had tried to preserve her relationship with Stefan even after she'd become a vampire that Stefan could no longer accept.

Admittedly, Elena was curious to know if that was more for Stefan's sake or hers.

Those days were far behind them now.

Somehow his compliment made her smile widen even more, which hadn't seemed possible. This was definitely one of his specialties, the affection he had for her; Damon seldom held back, especially now that they were together. They came together like old habits, her hands rising up to flatten against his chest as he took her into his grip.

"That's exactly why I changed elsewhere," she grinned. They would be doing a much different dance right about now. Elena figured it was a miracle they ever made it out of the house sometimes. Welcoming the kiss, she leaned up into it, smiling all the while. Her grip tightened on his shirt as she pulled on him, holding him steady until she couldn't help but to giggle against his mouth.

"Okay, okay," she muttered absently, head tilting back to glimpse him. "You can ravish me later, I promise. But first, you, sir, have a date to take me on. So, behave." Still grinning, she planted one more closed-mouth kiss at the corner of his lips. "At least until we get to where we're going."

Truth be told that was glad for a night out with his girl. His girl. That had a very nice ring to it. He had finally gotten the girl and he knew that wherever Ric was now, he'd be very happy for Damon and in that moment Damon found himself missing his friend more than he ever had.

But he knew that Ric was on the other side probably drinking bourbon and enjoying himself, happy in the knowledge that Damon now was happy with Elena. He hoped that Ric had managed to find some peace.

He wasn't oblivious to the fact that Elena was looking at him. He knew that she appreciated his body. Even if she liked to duck and look away he knew that she liked what she saw, she had just never allowed his looks and charms to sway her in a way that most other woman would have done. And he respected Elena for that. She wasn't Katherine. She didn't dangle them both. She made a choice and she stuck to it. True her feelings for Stefan had dwindled but she had still made a choice.

Damon was never one to hold back on telling Elena how good she looked and nor would he. She was the most gorgeous woman that he had ever seen and he wanted her to always know that.

He savored the feel of her lips pressed against his, a hand sliding down to brush along the bare skin of her thigh. He knew that if he didn't stop soon that they definitely wouldn't make it out the door.

And it seemed Elena knew that too. "I'll do my best to behave, but I make no promises," he said, smirking at her. He offered her his arm then. He had told Elena they would have a night out with dancing, and he intended to give her that, despite how much he wanted her right now.

Pinpointing when things had changed between them proved impossible. Vaguely she knew when it began, but not the specifics. Stefan had saved Damon's life by going with Klaus, Damon had been there to support her through her determination to retrieve him. Often she had been so hard on him, part of her thinking he had no interest in getting him back, but that had been some self-projection. Elena had been scared to find Stefan, but too proud to admit it.

Nothing frightened her more than the feelings he had brought out in her. Embracing them now delighted her. She knew it wouldn't always be this way, but it was nice to indulge for as long as they could. With as much trouble as they both had caused in their lives, peace would always be a pipe dream. So long as Klaus remained quiet and no one else bad showed up from Mystic Falls, Elena figured they were fairly safe and sound for now.

And that felt good, finding a silver lining. Jeremy would have wanted that for her.

Happiness made her look radiant, probably because she experienced it so sparingly. Some of her best smiles had been saved for him, she knew, and that didn't bother Elena anymore. She pried herself from their intimacy with an unmistakeable giddiness, because they were going to have a night where they were simply Damon and Elena. No one would be around to judge her, or so she hoped, and there was no fear of losing any control with him around.

Gladly linking arms, she smiled up at him as she started the trek out their bedroom door. "Once we get to where we're going, all bets are off." Elena paused to boost herself up and give him a kiss. "Even for me." She looked preciously excited, because now she could let herself cut loose and enjoy being a vampire. No one would die, and any injuries could be fixed along the way.

That was really all she could ask for.

"So, lead the way!"

Damon tried not to look back on the night that Stefan had left with Klaus because whenever he did, he felt a stab of guilt that he had lived and Stefan had lost everything in the process. Logically he knew that he wasn't really to blame for what Klaus had talked Stefan into doing, after Klaus had been responsible for what had happened to Damon to begin with and Stefan had made his own choice to save him, knowing that he had a chance of losing Elena in the process.

Damon had tried hard to get Stefan back because he owed his brother that much. He may have seemed like he wasn't trying when he spoke to Elena, but he had felt he needed to do it for both of them, because they both deserved happiness. Something that never seemed attainable to him, until the moment Elena told him that she loved him.

But he had wanted to make her feel something for him in that time Stefan was gone. He wanted her to doubt what her and Stefan had when Stefan did come back. And he knew that that was selfish of him. He knew that he shouldn't have tried so hard to worm his way into her heart, but he had needed someone to love him, and he had needed that someone to be her. Because he knew that if Elena could love him, he was worth something.

And though he knew that their lives together would never be smooth, they were Damon and Elena after all, he was going to try to be content in the knowledge that they could get through whatever hardships faced them together, and come out the other side as a united front, stronger than ever. That is what he had to believe, because the alternative was too damn depressing to think about.

And he had to agree that happiness did suit her. And he loved the fact that he was the cause of her happiness now. Loved know that smile that lit up her face was something he had put there. It was such a beautiful sight to behold and he couldn't help but return the smile with a radiant and rare proper happy smile of his own.

He walked with her out of the bedroom door. "Mmmm, I like the sound of that," he murmured against her lips. Elena really did look so sexy when she fed and their night out together at the frat party had proved that to him.

"Oh, I plan to," he said, stepping toward the front door of the boarding house. "And now that you've got your emotions back, maybe we'll christian the inside of the door sometime," he said, smirking a little as he thought about their hot and heavy escapades against the front of the door when she had no emotions and hoping she didn't mind he had done that with her.

Admittedly a bit nervous to semi-reenact that evening, Elena had a healthy optimism about her. She remembered how good it had felt, being able to feed on that good for nothing frat boy and not kill him in the process. Blood bags were good, better if warmed in the microwave, but the real thing--it was intoxicating. She didn't want to go down the dark path that curved around Stefan's bad habits, but she wasn't so worried about that anymore. She was no ripper.

Being emotionless had proven that, too.

It fascinated her the ease with which Damon put her. With or without the sire bond, he always had a way about him that comforted her. He may have been actively trying to worm his way into her heart, but it was Elena who had unconsciously wanted to let him do it. From the get go, she had viewed her future with Stefan as bleak. Granted that had been largely due to their different states, things had changed over time. She had done some growing up and so had Damon.

Maybe, at the end of the day, Elena and Stefan were just toxic to one another. The good had outweighed the bad for a time, but it couldn't last. That wasn't to say she was absolute in her confidence that she and Damon would, but she did view them differently. She had been so certain, still was, to whom she wanted to spend the last of her days with. Those choices were too grand for a girl her age to be making, deep down she knew that, but now she was essentially stuck this way.

Now, she'd never really know anything else. Elena didn't really want to anyway.

Down at front door, her laughter trailing behind them, Elena stopped in her tracks. She remembered that very well. Most memories were easier to recall now, flashes appeared in familiar places as though she were actively reliving it. It brought reddened warmth to her cheeks and a fluster in the way she looked away from him. She didn't feel completely connected to the person he had been with that day, but she couldn't deny the fact that those darker urges were as much a part of her as her tendency to embarrass easily over the same thing.

Regrouping nonetheless, cheeks still red, she looked up at him with a nervous smile. "Maybe we will," she responded evasively. With a burst of confidence, Elena withdrew from him and turned around to press her back up against the door. Mischief glinting in her eyes, she made herself look prone, but she was smiling--on the verge of laughing, even. She may have been more self-assured, but she couldn't quite take the level of intensity they'd both experienced all that serious. Not like this, and that was fine.

"Right here, take me now, Damon!" She joked, hand curling against her lips to suppress her giggles. This was good, too. It felt like an acceptance of some darker part of herself that she had tried to ignore since transitioning back to humanity. Relaxing as her chuckles died down, Elena pulled the door open for him and gestured for him to cross, mouth all a grin. "To our destination, I mean!"

Damon knew that now she had her humanity again she wouldn't be so inclined to let lose, even if she had had her humanity the night they were at the frat party. Part of him hard to wonder if her actions that night were anything to do with the sire bond and acting in a way that she thought would make him happy.

But he would find out if that was the case when they got to the club tonight.

Because with no sire bond Damon didn't have to question things anymore. Elena's actions were all her own choice, and while her friends may not agree with them, Damon knew that Elena liked to let lose and let go more than she cared to admit, but she was always worried about what her friends would think. Hopefully that would chance.

It was hard to think that not long ago she had said she had to let him go because she had chosen Stefan to this moment, where they were going on their first official date as boyfriend and girlfriend. But he certainly wasn't about to complain. He just hoped that himself and Stefan would be able to get past this.

He hoped that she'd never come to regret giving him a chance. He wasn't sure he would be able to handle it if she did.

He smirked when she stopped in her tracks and his mind flooded with images of her pressed against the front of the door and he pushed himself her body over and over, enjoying her scream out his name. She may not have been the same person as she was now but Damon had still enjoyed it. Of course, he had been quite rough with her then.

He trailed his eyes over her when she pressed back against the wall. Oh she was such a little tease at times. But it was great to see her enjoying herself and not hurting as much as she had. He didn't really intend to repeat that time against the door with her, it was one thing she could look back on and hopefully not regret having done in that time, but Damon loved Elena too much to treat her like that again.

His smirk grew on his face when she proclaimed that he should take her. He walked out the door and waited for her. "Well, I have plans to take you later, Elena," he said.

Better equipped for his suggestive barbs now, Elena's grinned remained firmly in place. All but bouncing a step after him, she looped her arm around his waist and rested her head upon his shoulder. "We'll see about that, Salvatore," she sassed back, defiant as always. Just because he was right didn't mean she would let him coast on through it.

"Let's hurry," she urged, wanting to be at the club already. "I'm thirsty and my feet are itching for a good dance!"

It had been awhile since she had gotten to genuinely enjoy herself with her humanity in tact. She had fun at the frat house with him until Bonnie turned up with those shocked eyes that sent her reeling back to reality. Elena didn't know how to live in both worlds then, seriously feared how right Damon was about her, and had tried to avoid it. Somehow that only drew her in deeper, and now here she was fully prepared to embrace the dark with her light.

He was there with her, she had nothing to fear. She had always been hard on him about control, which was a bit funny to look back on now that she relied on Damon to teach her how to maintain it. She hadn't given him much credit back then, but now Elena understood herself much better and Damon, too.

"Vampires need a..." She lifted her free hand to snap her fingers, "bam, you're there ability. Definitely got gypped on the teleportation."

Damon had never been much of a touchy feely type. He supposed it was to do with the relationships in his life. His father had treated him with disdain and Katherine hadn't been one for displaying her emotions. Perhaps because she had never truly cared for him. Irregardless, this cuddling was a new concept to Damon, even if Effie had insisted on it once or twice.

He grinned at her impatience, finding it rather infectious. "We'll be there in a minute."

Damon was glad that she was eager to let lose and enjoy being a vampire for once. He had never wanted this to happen to her, knowing how much she never wanted it to happen to herself, either, but since it had happened, he wanted her to be able to embrace it. And he knew she would never be able to do that with Stefan.

Stefan not being able to drink human blood would have always held Elena back. Sure, he seemed to have been getting better slowly, but Damon didn't trust him not to fall off the wagon again and become his ever so charming ripper self. Elena didn't need that complication.

Damon didn't really have the issue of control Stefan did, so she could enjoy herself and know that he could be there to stop her if she started to get out of line.

He smirked. "What, the whole accelerated speed thing isn't good enough for you?" he asked, teasingly.

Not at all unnerved by the change in their dynamics, Elena felt all the more encouraged. This was the way they could have been for a long time had she given in to the feelings she so feared as a human. She wrinkled her nose up at him in return, going along with the joke, and gave him a playful nudge as they walked.

"Haven't you figured out I'm high-maintenance yet?" She teased back, well aware that wasn't quite the case. At least, not at all like her unpleasant doppelganger... with her humanity in tact, that is.

It was nice though, more than nice, to be able to be affectionate with him as much as she wanted. He was hers and she was his, and that prospect didn't feel like it would get old anytime soon. She hadn't looked to the future much with Stefan, mostly out of apprehension, but with Damon, Elena thought they had all the time in the world. Part of it worried her, she knew how much bad luck surrounded them, but knew they would take the bad with the good just as they always had.

"I'm just..." Elena paused, a hint of sentimentality flourishing in her eyes. "Looking forward to an actual date, y'know? Just us and.. nothing else to get in the way."

While Elena's life had mellowed out since switching her humanity back on, to an extent, that didn't mean she had fallen into total normalcy. While she didn't anticipate things to be that way, not completely, she did want something to be human. Going to a club worked, even if they were going to do less than humane things while there.

Damon was rather encouraged too. He liked the fact that she wanted to snuggle up to him. And maybe in time it would become something that he would do as naturally as getting dressed in the morning. And that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

"I don't think that you're high-maintenance. I think you are beautiful, enchanting, stubborn as hell and.... I love you, Elena. I think if either of us is high-maintenance, it's me."

Damon was rather thrilled and scared of the prospect of being affectionate with her. He had so much to learn about dating. He was brand new to all of this and he didn't want to let her down. He just wanted to protect her and love her to the best of his ability. That was all that he could do.

"Well, you'll have to be patient with me. I've never really gone on an actual.... date," he said. He felt weird admitting that, but it was the truth. He was really good at sex but dates were a whole other story.

"And I'm looking forward to an actual date with you too. It's nice to be able to spend time with you where we aren't worried about someone attacking. To just be able to.... relax for once."

It was so different hearing him saying those words now as opposed to the few other ways she had heard them. Now it came out naturally, like they were meant to be like this, and maybe they were. She had avoided her heart for so long, but it hadn't ever been right. Damon had spoken truly back then just as he had before her humanity had been lost, this was their time.

Even if they were far, far away from Mystic Falls and most everyone they--well, she--loved.

So, Elena didn't restrain the warm smile that came with his words of praise and affection. He was always so forthright that it made her squeeze his hand in appreciation. Trying to keep the mood light, she laughed a bit. "Yes, you are a little bit of a diva."

Relaxing was seldom in the cards for either of them. Danger followed them like a dark cloud, unrelenting in its promise of rain. A part of her did expect something to jump out at them and ruin their evening, but kept a healthy optimism about her that she had undeniably lacked for too long. Soon they would be at the club and she would feel substantially more at ease.

His admission had her softening, big brown eyes rounding out with the realization that this was like being his first in something. That made her feel oddly special.

"All the patience," she assured him. "I promise you're doing great. And I'll make sure your first date is very memorable." She did have some experience in that department and all, but this was definitely not going to be like any date she had ever been on before either.

That made it all the more exciting.

Damon didn't have the same qualms about telling her he loved her when he no longer had to compel her to forget it because he couldn't have her remember it when he knew that he could never be with her in the way that he wanted to. Now, everything was different. She loved him and he loved her. It was quite liberating.

And he couldn't deny that her being a vampire had made them closer.

He loved seeing that smile on her face. She had the most beautiful smile. It wasn't devious like Katherine's. It was warm and kind, just like Elena was and it always reached her beautiful eyes.

"Well, I think that I'm worth it. Don't you?" he asked, tossing his head a little, as if shaking his hair, jokingly. He liked being able to just play around with her, not take everything so serious.

Elena was special to him. She was the only woman he could see himself wanting to spend eternity with anymore. She had changed him in ways he could not describe and he was never wanted this to end for them.

"Well, that is high praise," he said. "And it's already very memorable," he said. He was going out with her, after all. "But I'm excited to see what you have planned for the evening."

He leaned over and pressed a kiss to her cheek.

"Very Maybelline," Elena laughed back. Joking around was refreshing, and not feeling like something was going to sneak up and actually snatch her from him felt just as nice. "Completely worth it." Despite the humor in her voice, she did mean it. This was all just in good fun, no need to let things get too serious. They'd crossed those bridges already, and she was sure there would be plenty of other opportunities for total sincerity between them.

Being the one in charge when it came to something related to the two of them boosted her confidence. Usually he called the shots, granted she argued and fought him like hell when she didn't agree, but this time the ball was in her court. She had designed the date, all he needed to do was show up and escort her to the venue. Elena smiled against his kiss, then rested her head against his shoulder.

"Honestly, it could end right now and I'd just be happy we had the chance to be like this," she admitted. It felt so normal, and Elena had longed to feel that way for awhile. Didn't matter that they were vampires, they were two people in love. They should have been able to just go out and have fun together.

Once at the club, Elena drifted a step ahead of him to purposefully cut through the line of people. The key was to, of course, act like she knew what she was doing. When they reached the bouncer, she caught him in her sights and worked on compelling him discreetly, "You remember us, so we're good." He repeated the words back to her in reverse, then stepped aside to let them enter.

Turning around to grasp either of his hands in her own, Elena grinned at him as she began backing into the open door. The sounds flooded her ears already, she looked incredibly eager. "Time to show me what ya got, Damon!"

"Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it," he said, smirking at her. He enjoyed this, so much. Just having a pleasant night out with his girlfriend that they could tease each other and nothing was serious, nobodies life was in danger. He didn't suspect it would last, but it was nice while it did.

"Damn right I'm worth it," he said, grinning at her. He wanted to give her more freedom to make choices now that they weren't in such terrible danger and she seemed happy about that. He smiled when she rested her head against his shoulder.

"Well, I mean, we could always go back...." he said, jokingly. He knew that that was something that she both wanted, and needed and he wasn't about to take this night away from her. He wanted her to fully enjoy it, with him.

He watched her compel the bouncer. "So hot," he said, low enough that only she would hear him. And he meant that. Watching her used her abilities as a vampire properly was something that he had longed to see.

He followed her inside and pulled her onto the dance floor, starting to shake his hips to the music, very much showing her what he had got. Unlike Stefan, Damon actually enjoyed dancing and he didn't mind getting out there at all.

Being free enough with herself to use her abilities at all felt liberating. She contributed that to Damon's unconditional acceptance of her. Granted he had been less receptive of her darker side, but she hoped everyone would be; that wasn't the kind of person Elena ever wanted her loved ones to accept.

With a laugh, she followed him onto to the dance floor. This was an area where he and Stefan had often been divided. She remembered all the way back to the Miss Mystic Falls dance, he had treated it as a joke. She had enjoyed it, but some part of her had been a little bit serious about the whole thing. Her mom had wanted Elena to go far, but the outcome hadn't been so bad in the end.

Thoroughly encouraged, too, by Damon's reaction, Elena pulled her body flush against his and swayed along with the beat. She felt more like herself than she had in a long time. This was the kind of girl she had been, after all, before the death of her parents. Going out, having fun, those had been a mainstay. She had shut it all off when they died, fun becoming substantially less important.

Elena slipped her arms around his neck, smile turning mischievous. "What do you say, Damon? Still want to go home?"

Damon had been around Elena when she was emotionless purely because he wanted to take care of her and work out a way to bring her back. He had still had sex with her, but he was still a man with needs and he had wanted her.

He really did love that laugh. He was always willing to dance with Elena, always willing to be close to her, have his arms around her. And he just liked dancing, full stop. It was one of the best ways to let lose and have some fun and nobody had to die, generally speaking.

His eyes followed the movement of her hips and it was mezemorizing. It was so great to see her like this, and to know that when this night was over, she would be going home with him. He was a lucky, lucky man.

"Well, I want to go have my wicked way with you but for now I am perfectly content to dance with you'

Nobody dying was a huge perk. While she had no doubt that there would be feeding to top off the night, Elena had no concern that death's ugly mug would appear to cloud it. She had learned control from someone who had his own tentative issues with it, but nowhere near the old love of her life who had become something of a dear memory.

Elena felt exalted, like she had left behind some murky version of herself and came out baptized. She moved with him, around him, and rocked against him when the rhythm between them called for it. She pressed her back to his chest, cheek to his, and grinned at his promise for the rest of the evening.

"Sounds like the perfect end to a perfect date, Damon," she responded, brushing the corner of his mouth with a kiss before spinning back out from him. This was good, this could work between them. No doubt encompassed her every step and word in time.

Damon didn't have the same set of morals as Stefan, but he wasn't anywhere near the monster that Stefan was during his ripper days. He was never on and off the wagon like his brother, but he had changed quite a bit since meeting Elena.

He moved his hands to her hips and held them as she danced, up against him, trying not to allow himself to get too distracted just yet. Which was hard when she was dancing like that with him. She was too distracting for her own damn good.

"Well, I was hoping that you'd think that," he said. He grinned as he watched her, carefree and happy. It was so nice to see and he was determined that she remain like that for as long as he could possibly allow her to.
