So Meredith didn't claim to understand the weird bizarro-Narnia world. If she did, that'd mean she was crazy and as a doctor, she couldn't afford to be crazy because it took a special kind of not right to be a surgeon. She could handle the hours, the blood and guts, and the fact that no matter what, every hour was a golden opportunity to either save a life or lose one. That was the kind of stress she liked - vampires and other weirdos who ate people? So not what she'd been looking for. It was worth seeing Izzie again...but Izzie was from the past and not necessarily her Izzie.
So taking a look at zombie-killer Rick's baby daughter was actually a decent relief. She didn't mind looking over any of the babies because if it were her and Zola needed the help, then yes, she'd want someone to make sure she was okay. Even if Rick probably didn't exist in reality and for all Meredith knew, she was dead again and everyone was trapped in some weird limbo between life and death. It was just that she hadn't seen Denny yet, so there was that at least.
Following the directions left on her phone, she made her way to where Rick was staying and knocked, hoping that was the right thing to do. He liked guns and if she said that didn't freak her out a little bit, she would've been lying. She knew it wasn't the people with the guns that she needed to be afraid of because not everyone with a gun was crazy and killed people just because they were hurt or upset, but there were memories there. And ones she seriously didn't need to be having.
So she knocked and waited. And hoped that he didn't turn up and decide he wanted to kill her or something. She was operating on blind trust. Meredith didn't like blind trust. There were too many ways to let someone down with blind trust.
