Rural area somewhere close to New York; early evening; attn: Rachel and Scott
"Oh Gott..." Kurt took a deep breath and gazed at his companion, wondering which way it would choose - and if he had the strength left to change its mind if it decided to go towards the small accumulation of houses, only about a mile away from the two of them. Which it did, of course. Because things couldn’t possibly be easy for once. Considering Kurt’s companion was a dinosaur the size of an average single-family home, failing to distract it would probably mean that about a hundred people were doomed to be either eaten or swatted.
Kurt had been following that thing around for two days and nights, since he had discovered it, close to a deserted chemical laboratory. It seemed to have eaten whoever had awakened it. Kurt had found a child’s hand, ripped clean off, and a game boy. From that, he could tell that the awakening had most likely been an accident, involving curious kids from the nearby farms rather than mad scientists trying to destroy New York City (even if the making of Herr Dinosaurier here had probably included mad scientists at some point).
Up to now, Kurt had managed to keep the dinosaur from killing anybody. He saw watching it as his duty, simply because he didn’t like it when innocent men and women were harmed. Luckily, the area wasn’t too populated, and whenever the dinosaur got too close to a building, Kurt drew its attention to himself by attacking the eyes, the only spots of its body he could hope to hurt. Granted, the dinosaur had spooked a few car drivers when it crossed that one highway, and it had destroyed a dairy farm, squashing some cows in the process, but no human casualties - yet. The problem was: Kurt had no way to stop it. Yes, he felt like an idiot following it around like he was walking his rabid dog, but he hardly had a choice. Teleportation was very useful when fighting anything that he could take out with a kick to the head, but no good against a dinosaur. And he wasn’t trained for stuff like this, either. He could only hope the nearest police stations would get enough calls from people reporting a dinosaur sighting, so they would actually do something about it and not think of it as a stupid prank.
His teleporting wasn’t accurate anymore, Kurt noticed, as he almost slipped from the dinosaur’s head after ending up twenty inches further to the right than he had planned to do. The adrenaline kept Kurt’s mind awake, but his body was beginning to feel the lack of sleep, not to mention the exhaustion from constant running and teleporting. Still, he had to keep it together, now more than ever. Kurt kicked the animal’s eye, then jumped down, making as much noise as possible. Right away, he teleported again, because a giant clawed foot tried to stomp the annoying blue bug. Thinking he was save for the second, he scrambled to his feet, but the animal’s long tail hit him in the stomach and sent him to the ground. Gasping for air, Kurt looked up at the enraged dinosaur. He had the bad feeling that he had pushed his luck too far.
