Laura was upset. A couple of weeks around these people and still she was nowhere near understanding them. Even Logan and Matty were, at times, strange, she knew how to move around them, and they understood her. They didn't push her. Sure, they made sure she kept some clothes on - which she still understand because clothes were hot and made her skin itch and what was the point, really? - but they didn't look at her weird. Like the others.
She hadn't yet warmed up to living in a house full of people. Actually, she hadn't yet gotten used to the idea of living in a house, period. There were so many rules, and she could understand why Logan always looked so frowny all the time.
Mentally, she was like a child. In fact, she'd taken to wearing a modified tiger Halloween costume that Jubilee had dug out of a closet somewhere. Laura liked Jubilee. The teenager was bright and bubbly and friendly.
It was her that Laura had been seeking out when she came upon Jamie in the rec. room. Video games were a curiosity to her, as she didn't quite grasp the appeal of them. She'd rather be outside in the sunshine, running amok, instead of being cooped up inside all day. The whole thing seemed pretty pointless to her. But then, these people were weird.
Still, her curiosity was piqued as she watched the boy playing the games. He was... different. She cocked her head to the side as she slid onto the couch beside him, watching him.
