All the confusion, all the heartbreak, all the rage seemed to coalesce as she broke down in his arms, finally allowing herself to cry. She buried her face into his shoulder as her fingers clung to the fabric of his shirt. She wasn't used to weeping, not in front of others at least, and certainly not in front of Logan.
No, she hadn't wanted kids, not just yet, maybe not ever. She was good with them, but she had never been able to see herself with a house full of kids. But it had been there, and she had failed to protect it. Her carelessness had gotten it killed.
"No," she whispered, once the sobbing slowed. "I didn't know." She had to laugh, even though it came out choked by a sob and sounding just this side of bitter. "Didn't know until Hank told me, after we got back."
