"Have another cookie," Adelaide said quietly after he'd talked, tapping her fingers on her thigh before she linked her fingers together, resting them still in her lap.
She blew out a breath. "I think in a way you're right, you probably shouldn't have gone. But at the same time, after what happened, you needed to get away because you would have been even less help in such a state. They might have needed you here, but you needed to go, and that's what's more important." She sighed. "The thing is, whether it was the right decision or not is irrelevant."
She didn't know what to suggest, so she just kind of ran with it, "Because Logan's come in and stepped into the position you feel you should be in, yes? And because he's not actually sucking at it. So you've come back to a place that you're used to depending on you, and suddenly it isn't anymore. Am I right so far? And you don't feel you have a place anymore because of that? It's not stupid at all Scott, far from it, it's entirely human to feel replaced and insignificant. In fact, if you didn't feel either of those things then I'd be inclined to worry about you more."
