She had already opened several of the cells and found children that had been grabbed from them and the conditions she had found some of them in had caused her rage to start shimmering right below the surface of her control. It was too reminiscent of the time she had come from -- and the events she wanted to protect these versions of her people from.
That would be why when she heard screaming, she ran as fast as she could in that direction. This was probably nothing new to be seen by the guards who were trying to collect their prisoners and move them somewhere more secure. After all, there were people running around everywhere down here. It had become chaos and destructive.
What was something new was the image of a very bright blue bird of fire that was around the girl running towards them.
"It's a mutie fuck, shoot her! Shoot her!"
That was the wrong thing to say, and Rachel lifted up her hand and the guard giving the orders went flying back into the wall. The man with the gun was quickly thrown back as well.
When she was sure that those two guards were taken care of, she turned her focus to the direction she heard the screaming coming from. Letting down her shields so that her telepathy could give her an idea who was in the cell, Rachel could feel a small bit of relief.
Carefully, she moved to the door, ready to take anyone else out who might try to stop her.
"Marie! It's Rachel!" She pulled the door free and stepped inside.
