Remus wasn't sure how much time had passed since the kids were taken. The note that had come a few days ago had done little to alleviate the stress. It was hard to say if the sender was serious about the young Tonks being safe. Part of Remus wanted to grasp at any straw he could and believe that Tonks wasn't going to disappear in a puff of smoke the next time he turned around. The thought still made his stomach churn and while he had managed to break away from being completely and totally glued to her side, he still slept with her firmly ensconced in his arms.
An obsessive worrier by nature, this was kicking Remus into overdrive. As much as he had protested their marriage to begin with -- and then the shock over her being pregnant -- Remus wouldn't have changed anything in his life.
And now something outside of his control threatened to do just that.
Remus reached for the thin strip of leather that served as a bookmark. He was pouring over books from the Restricted Section that could possibly be used to track the children. So far he couldn't find a damn thing, but it didn't mean there wasn't something. He'd eventually come across something if it was the last thing he did.
Yawning and stretching his arms above his head, Remus glanced at his wristwatch. Nearly 9 pm and Tonks hadn't returned yet. She had wanted to do something that dealt with exercise and Remus had been quite willing to let her go. Physical exercise was not his cup of tea. His hands in his pockets, he left their chambers and went off in search of his wife. And would find her once he heard the room with the grunts.
Provided it wasn't an abandoned classroom occupied by students, of course.
