He seemed calm enough, though Mona felt a nervous energy coming off him - or maybe it was her own nervous energy. As soon as Alex tilted his face to her and his unseeing eyes, the fluttering in her stomach started again. She smiled.
"The only thing I'm busy at these days is alienating my folks," Mona said, and her hand slithered over and found its place on top of his. She had been wearing mittens, so her hand was still warm and she hadn't smoked on her way to the pub. She knew that Alex would be able to smell it on her.
"Actually, I just caught you going inside as I was turning the corner. Good timing, yeah?"
