Zeus and Hekate
Who: Zeus and Hecate
What: Zeus starts to plan his palaces and court at Olympus
Where: Mount Olympus
Rating: K+
The view was magnificent, splendid—the new Sky King felt he could see all of Greece, perhaps the whole of the continent, laid out before him as he gazed from atop the peak. They had all convened there, what seemed so long before, when he had pledged to all of the immortals: whosoever of them would fight with him against the Titans, he would not cast him from his rights, but each should have the office which he had before among the deathless gods. He had said, as well, that gods who under Cronus had gone without position or privilege should, under him, be raised to these, according to justice.
And they had won. The victory had been sweet, glorious, everything he could have imagined in his days of youth, as he'd grown, as he'd been groomed for this. The time had come—the Age of the Olympians was about to begin.
He smirked as he reflected on the drawing of lots in the ruins, what was left of Mount Othrys, south of Olympus. Reaching the Mount's summit, he could feel the sweet, crisp breeze on his face. This was his kingdom; these were his skies.
This would be where he built his magnificent palace. He could see it all around him then, a spacious entrance, vast, sweeping halls, open courtyards, and an enormous throne room, where he would run his court. He walked around, envisioning it around him—there would be a conference room, where he would have meetings, and there would be luxurious suites for guests and denizens.
His thoughts then turned to his court. He would need to recognize those who had fought with him, of course, and would need to give honors to his dearest sisters. The Titanesses would be recognized, and his brothers would likewise have thrones among his counsel. He ran a hand through his dark hair as he turned his gaze back across the landscape, thinking.
