He smiled and nodded his head, letting the smile stay in place rather than fade away this time, "Life would be pretty boring if they didn't and were serious all the time."
He shrugged his shoulders lightly, he wasn't frowning anymore, but the fear and anxiousness at the thought of his father was still there. "I know I am... But I left, just like she did." He paused and shook his head, "No, not just like her. I told him, tried to explain and I said I'd be back... but still." He smiled a bit more brightly when she spoke about her family, "Glad to hear they're still your family, it'd be awkward to come back to hear they've become the family of someone else." He chuckled lightly, coughing at his poor excuse for a joke.
