"I'm glad you were angry with me for leaving..." He smiled, it sounded weird to say it, but it was true. "Not that I hurt you, I hate that. But even if I needed it, to leave for a while, I am glad you were able to be angry and not just accept it. I think I'd be sad if you had just blindly accepted it." He coughed, knowing how stupid he sounded and shook his head.
He chewed his lip and let out a long breath, "My mother, she was selfish. I know she loved me, loved my father... I can remember feeling it. But for her, the thing she loved most was herself. She was her own most cherished thing." He stroked the cheek beneath his hand and smiled, "But for me, my family is my most important. You, my father... that's what is important to me, what I cherish. You are what I need."
