"She grabs it all but only puts in her mouth what she can," Lily clarified with a smile James wouldn't be able to see, not in any sort of hurry to help. The sight of the two of them together, of James's effortless juggling of baby and beckoning hand, melted her heart and turned her knees to jelly.
And yet he couldn't figure out how to steal his glasses back from his infant daughter, so there may be a ways to go...
"We can recreate it later if you want, if we can talk Remus into babysitting," she suggested, summoning a pencil out of the air to replace James's glasses without causing too much of a fuss. "Sirius if we must. He tends not to want to give me my baby back once he gets a hold of her. Or he used to. I don't know how this one is. Is Sirius here? Anyway," she placed the smudged and baby-drooled glasses on James's face and pushed them up the bridge of his nose without giving him a chance to answer, "what is the 'it' you're talking about? The baby? Because I'd prefer you called her Violet. Shall I clean those for you?"
