Meeting the Vampire
Who: Skylar and Zania
Where: Zania and Clementine's house
When: late morning
Skylar had gone and gotten completely stoned after Nic had left him, if only so he didn’t dream about vampires and shit and weird and in the end he’d slept in the greenhouse because honestly that felt safer for no good reason. It probably wasn’t. Maybe wasn’t.
When he left his house, he knew where he was going, still wearing the clothes from the day before, hair sticking up weirdly from where he’d slept on it, but he had a plan. He was going to talk to Clementine, figure out why she just freaked out on him for no good reason and then make it better. If he could. He could. He would.
That was what he was telling himself at least when he knocked on her door, rocking on his feet and bobbing his head to music no one else could hear.
Zania woke briefly when Mickey left, telling him goodbye, thank you, and giving him a kiss on the cheek. Then she’d gone back to sleep. She was still sleeping when she heard a knock on the door, but knew she needed to get up, so she slowly rose. When the knock came again, she hurried to the door, still in her boxer shorts and tank top, and stepped back as she opened it, careful to avoid the sun. “Hi there,” she smiled, rubbing her eyes.
Not Clementine. That was Skylar's first thought. Then what Nic said filtered through and he frowned. Vampire. Skylar's eyes narrowed as he stared at Zania. "You're a vampire."
“Good morning to you, too,” Zania frowned, going a bit paler than usual. She looked Skylar over, noting the state of disarray and the smell of pot. It made her wonder if he was high right now. “Why don’t you come in? We should talk.”
Skylar was definitely more on the sober side, but went in when she suggested it, he went into the house. "You are aren't you?"
Once he was in the house, she shut the door and leaned against it, head cocking to one side. “You want proof?” she asked, since he seemed doubtful. “Who told you?”
"Yes." Then Skylar shook his head and thought better of it. "No. I mean...what kind of proof?" He frowned, not sure he wanted to be bitten or something. "Nic." He stared for a moment. "Did you bite Clementine?"
As soon as he said yes, Zania’s fangs popped into place with a little smirk. “This good enough?” she asked. “But no, I didn’t bite Clementine, though she said I could if I wanted. I haven’t bitten anyone yet.”
Skylar jumped at the fangs, then tripped over his own feet and wound up on his butt in the foyer. "Yes. Maybe. Weird." He didn't get up from the floor, just running his hands through his hair. "Well who did then?"
Zania laughed softly, but offered Skylar a hand up off the floor. “You need more than fangs to believe me?” she asked. “We should walk into the bathroom. I can show you my reflection.” Or lack of it. “I can guess who, but that’s not really my secret to tell. Why do you want to know so badly?”
He watched her hand for a moment then let her help him up. "Because I'm not okay with. With him being so amazing. And she could have gotten hurt."
“If you know it was a he, you know it wasn’t me,” she pointed out. “And yeah, she could have gotten hurt, but she knew the risks. I told her them myself. I hear it’s amazing, but…” The closest she’d gotten to biting someone was Lance and she still wasn’t sure how she felt about that. She wanted to try, but she was also scared.
"I could have been wrong," Skylar said with an air that said he had hoped he was wrong. "Yeah, well, she can stop having amazing moments with random vampires." He frowned, looking over at Zania. "But what?"
“He’s not a random vampire,” Zania said, rolling her eyes. “He’s just a friend. Believe me, I know. But, yeah, I… I haven’t bitten anyone. I just know people who’ve been bitten and they said it was nice.” She still couldn’t believe Mannix had bitten Mickey. Despite having absolutely no claim to him, Zania thought of Mickey as hers in that regard.
"He's not my friend! And he was all up on Clementine and I'm not sure I'm okay with that!" Skylar didn't look amused. "And then she got mad at me. I don't want it to be nice. That's not fair. How am I supposed to do anything with that?"
“I seriously doubt that because he’s really into someone else,” Zania sighed. She knew that much for sure. Mickey wouldn’t be tying himself in knots if Mannix was out of the picture. “Would you like it better if it hurt her? Or are you just upset that some other guy is nibbling on her neck? You could try it for yourself. Why isn’t it fair?”
"If he is, that's worse," Skylar said. "He shouldn't be all leaving her giddy and shit if he wants someone else. I'd like her not to be doing it. No one else can live up to that. And..." It was still weird. "I don't...I mean it can't be that good."
“I think his intention was probably to feed, not to get her off, but I get you,” Zania said, smiling slightly. A part of her wanted to send Skylar Mannix’s way, just to see how that would blow up. It would be amusing, at least. “You’d have to try it to know. But I guess I thought you two were together. You looked awfully cozy the other morning.”
"Are you sure? I'm not." Just sounded like this guy was trying to get in Clementine's skirts. "Maybe I should try it." He shook his head. "We're not...it's just...no."
“I wasn’t there, so I’m not sure,” she said, taking a seat on the couch and wrapping one of Clementine’s blankets around her. “If you’re not together, then why’re you so bothered by it? Do you want to be? And, yeah, if you want to try it, I’m game.”
Skylar paced a little. "I don't know why I am. I just am. And she got really mad at me because I was." He sighed and sat with Zania. "You're not gonna kill me are you?"
“Would it help if I talked to her?” Zania offered, since this was her house-mate. And she was a girl. She could do things like that. “I don’t want to kill anyone, Skylar. Why would I kill you?”
"I was gonna talk to her. Now. But you were here and I had to see if Nic was fucking with me or not." Not that that was like Nic, but who knew? Screwing with potheads wasn't hard. "Cause the blood's supposed to stay inside," he told her motioning to his body. "I don't know."
“Okay, so you should still talk to her then,” Zania agreed. There were lines crossed here and she couldn’t help him sort them out herself. “I wouldn’t hurt you. You won’t tell anyone, will you? If this got out, it could be really bad for me. People would freak out. They might try to kill me, and I haven’t hurt anyone.”
"I'm not going to tell people about vampires. Everyone already thinks I'm crazy enough already." Skylar shook his head, then looked at her. "You could...bite me I guess."
“Thanks,” she said, though she wasn’t sure that was a good enough reason. At least if people thought he was crazy, they might not believe him. “Only if you want me to. I don’t want to bite you if you’re not cool with it.”
He watched her for a long moment. "I guess...it'd be weird, but good to know what it's like."
“Okay,” Zania said, but then found herself not sure how to proceed. She wasn’t going to pounce on him or anything like that. “Where do you want me to bite you?”
"Uhh," Skylar looked at himself then her. "I don know. Where would you want to?"
“Your arm, maybe?” Zania was worried about biting his neck or his wrist, that the blood would flow too fast and she’d be overwhelmed. “Does that work?”
Skylar's found himself nodding, pulling off his jacket to reveal a short sleeved shirt. "Go for it."
“Okay,” Zania said, scooting over to sit beside him so she could take hold of his arm. Her fangs were out just thinking about biting him, but she was still nervous. More than he was, it seemed. “Tell me when you want me to stop,” she said, though she told herself she would need a counter in her head. What was something she could sing in a minute or two? Maybe her ABCs. She’d do that twice, then stop. Glancing at Skylar once more, she closed her eyes and sank her teeth into his forearm, immediately losing her focus. It never tasted this good from a bag.
Maybe he was nervous, looking at those fangs and closing his eyes to be ready for it to hurt. But then her teeth were sinking in and it was the farthest thing from pain. He gasped at the feeling, which then tapered off to a groan, something low and rumbling in his chest. Oh fuck that was good.
Even though Zania knew what to expect, hearing his reaction sent shivers down her spine. It reminded her that she needed to not get caught up in it herself, that he would only enjoy it so long as she didn’t drink too much. It was difficult to focus, though, as she found it a bit like being on some kind of high herself.
Skylar found himself sinking into the couch, loving the feeling of that. It was better than most highs. He had absolutely no desire to stop her, or at least not until he thought of something else, rolling his head to the side to look at her and that mouth.
It amazed her that she didn’t feel guilty about this the way she did about sex, especially when she knew what Skylar was feeling. It was different, carnal and intimate, but not in a way that got her off. It could, though, with the right person. It wasn’t something she needed to think about, but her mind spun away on the possibilities. In her mind, she continued counting… Q R S, T U V…
Right. He needed more than this. Because that would be fun. He was slow at it, but he was pushing her away, back towards the couch. He wanted that mouth on his. Thoughts of Clementine were forgotten almost completely.
Zania moved at first, then resisted, not sure what he was doing but that to do so might stop her from feeding on him. She whined softly, then realized that it might be his sign to stop. Had she been drinking that long? Surely they could keep going.
Skylar pushed again as she resisted, cupping her cheek to try and guide it towards his mouth. It wasn't the biting, it was that need for something else. To be a part of this. And now.
She released him to accept the kiss, though there was confusion on her part as to how they’d gotten there. He wasn’t supposed to be kissing her, though he was a good kisser, so she let it go on for a minute. Just one minute, then she’d say something.
Skylar pulled her closer, trying to get her into his lap. He was definitely turned on, very much so, and was fine with this going elsewhere.
“Skylar,” Zania gasped, finding herself in his lap. Her fingers ran through his hair, but she pulled back from the kiss, trying to slow things down. “Sky, stop. You don’t want this with me.” If he did, he would’ve given her some sign before now. It might be fun, but then she’d lock herself in her room and never come out.
It took Skylar a moment to slow down, mind still caught up in what the bite had done to him and not the blood rolling down his arm. "Huh?" He asked, blinking twice.
“You’re caught up in the moment,” Zania said gently as she caught the blood with her finger, picking it up and licking it off. She then bit her own finger tip, slicing it open with her fang, and pressed it to the bite mark, mixing her own blood with his. Once she was sure he’d stopped bleeding, she focused back on him, giving him a small smile. “I tried to warn you.”
Skylar was left staring at her, not getting what she was doing, but knowing things were wrong. "I get why she said that..."
“It seems overwhelming. The feeling,” Zania said, watching him closely. It wasn’t something she’d experienced for herself, so she wasn’t sure, but she knew it was overwhelming in another way for herself. “At least it’s not painful.”
"That's one word for it." He let his head drop back on the couch. "No. Do not want him biting her again."
“If she wants to donate, I can always have Nic draw blood instead,” Zania suggested. “Then she’s helping without the full experience.” She smirked then, and pressed her hips against his. The feeling was delicious and highly inappropriate. “You’re jealous, aren’t you? That she felt this with him.” She leaned in to whisper in his ear. “She’s the one that should be on your lap.”
"Yes, make him do that," Skylar agreed. Then Zania was grinding against him and the sensations that weren't quite gone yet sparked again. "I'm not..." He tried, but words failed him and they just tapered off into a slight groan.
“I can’t make him do anything,” Zania said. While she liked the response she earned from Skylar, she knew it would just be fun, the kind of fun that she didn’t want. She wasn’t even in the mood for it, no matter how good he felt between her legs. “Figure it out, Sky,” she said, then climbed off him. “If you decide you’re interested in me without the biting, then we’ll see where it goes, but you need to talk to Clementine first.”
"I can. If I can remember Dr. Sexy's real name." Skylar made a noise when she got off of him, but let her go. That probably was...for the best. He just wasn't sure how he felt about anything. "I'm not...I don't know." He had been interested though. Very interested.
“Yeah, that might help,” Zania laughed. Nic would be much more agreeable if he didn’t think he was being made fun of. “What do you know?” she asked, taking a seat beside him on the couch, this time with a bit of distance between them.
Skylar ran a hand through his hair, thinking about that. "I got upset. About the way she talked about the guy."
“Because…?” Zania asked, looking for the why. She had the feeling Skylar didn’t like to look into his feelings very often, but in this case it was important.
"I don't know. I mean before I knew you were...real, I thought he might be some sort of freak dude like the ones in the clubs in LA that think they're...you know. And I didn't like that. Plus, I mean...it's Clementine. She's sweet. She likes the plants." And maybe he didn't want to share her.
“You might want to think about the why,” Zania said. “Because I know her well enough to know she offered her blood because she wanted to help. And he took her up on it. Now you know it’s not painful and that he’s not some crazy freak, but really a vampire. I know it’s a lot, but if it still bothers you… I can’t tell you what to do, but if I were you, I’d want to be able to explain myself.”
Skylar opened his mouth twice to explain himself and wound up giving up, fingers pressing at where the bite to his arm had been. It was just healed. Gone. “I can’t. I don’t get like that.”
“Why not?” Zania said, trying to comprehend as she watched him press his fingers to a wound that was now gone. “It makes a difference, I think, if you were a friend worried about a guy that was biting her, or if you didn’t like her thinking of him that way because you’d rather it be you.”
“I wouldn’t rather…” Skylar started but stopped, because honestly that wouldn’t be bad. There were worse things. “It’s not like that. We’re friends. And I don’t do jealous.”
“Hm. That’s too bad. I think it can be a good quality from time to time,” Zania said, propping her face up on one hand. “So if you’re dating a girl and she kisses someone else, you wouldn’t be jealous? Or would you just be hurt? Or upset? Or are you a swinger?”
Skylar shook his head. “I don’t date. I sort of...wander. Hang around for a little while then go somewhere else.” He shrugged one shoulder.
“Why not?” Zania asked. “You’re obviously interested in girls, sooo… just don’t want to commit to one?” What was it with guys these days? She was getting to the point where she wanted to kick them all.
Skylar gave Zania a look. “I’m not really boyfriend material.” He was pretty sure that was obvious. Stoner, maybe a little crazy, and totally flakey. Not at all what anyone wanted full-time.
“Says who?” she asked, wondering if this was his own decision or something he’d been told often enough that he decided it must be true.
“Says most of the free world,” Skylar told her, shaking his head. “It’s not like I haven’t been talking to other people. That just really got under my skin and then she got pissed at me and it just blew up.” He made an explosion noise and did a similar hand motion.
“I dunno. I think you could be if you wanted to be, but that’s just me,” she shrugged. Zania was starting to think she had really bad taste in guys. Either that or she was the problem, which was very possible. “If you want to fix things, you need to talk to her and not let it blow up. Figure out what upset her, since you can’t put your finger on what upset you.”
He found himself nodding. “I was gonna talk to her,” he told Zania, feeling like he’d already said that. “Just hadn’t.”
Zania sighed, not sure what else she could say here. It didn’t feel like Skylar knew himself well enough to answer any of her questions and didn’t even want to try. “Okay, well… I’m gonna go back to bed,” she said, rising from her seat on the couch. “I’m sure Clem ‘ll be back later. Feel free to hang out or come back.”
Skylar nodded, leaning back more into the couch. “Thanks.” He wasn’t sure what he was going to say, but he needed to say something. He knew that much.
“Anytime,” Zania said, then gave him a little wave before heading back to her bedroom. He definitely needed to figure things out, hopefully before Clementine returned home.
