Concerning Reactions
Who: Eily and Patrick
When: Morningish
Where: Hospital
Warnings: Language
Eily headed into Patrick's room again as soon as the nurse cleared her to go in, after vitals were taken and bandages were changed. She was wired, feeling like she was too jittery to rest at all, and too exhausted to be of real use. But she was hiding that, keeping it all together as well as she could.
Patrick was not a happy camper. He was in a fucking hospital, shoulder bandaged all the way up, and a victim of a wolf attack. And somehow he felt…a lot better than he figured what a victim of a wolf attack should feel like. He didn't know why that was, but his logical mind told him that it was probably some combination of medicines they had him on, even though apparently he wasn't 'fine' enough to go home yet, whether or not he felt so.
Looking up as Eily came back in, he felt another giant pang of guilt sweep through him. He shouldn't have put her through this. He should have stayed at the bar, stayed somewhere else, and not come home after dark like some fucking idiot. "Hey sis," He said, trying to sound normal, to not throw his guilt and his anger at her, because she didn't deserve that.
Eily rushed to the bed, and gave him the lightest hug she could. "Hey." she said, still close. "Got a deal for you. You pull through. Lochlan pulls through, and it all turns out okay." she said. "I've already decided this is how we have to do this, so you might want to just jump on board now."
Patrick closed his eyes and leaned into Eily's hug as best he could without really hurting himself more. He smiled a little at her deal and nodded but something hit him later than it should have. "Wait…Lochlan is in here?" He wanted to tell her he'd be fine, that she would have to deal with him for a lot longer, but their family was in here and he didn't even know about it.
Eily nodded. "Both of you got attacked last night. Lochlan was on his date with a teenager, and I guess she got him to safety and called the hospital. She's...very young. Oh! Wait you know her. The pink haired girl you hate." she said, shaking her head. "Anyways. Yeah. But you're both going to be okay. And no one is going anywhere unarmed like, ever again."
Ok, so he'd just been attacked with a wolf and Lochlan had been on a date with Chiri when he'd been attacked. "This is fucking insane…" He said lowly, exhaling hard. "Of all the crazy shit to happen…" He could deal with Lochlan and Chiri later, maybe but right now he needed to focus on Eily. He listened to her and then nodded, but reached for her hand when she finished "Hey…I'm sorry you, uh… had to see me like that. Shouldn't have gone down that way."
Eily took his hand, eyes on his. "Are you kidding?" she asked. "I'm glad it went down like that, if it didn't, who knows what would have happened! Just be grateful you have a sister that kicks so much ass it's almost inconceivable." she told him, giving his hand a little squeeze.
Normally he would have, but things were a whole hell of a lot stranger right now. Everything was louder, like he was in some sort of train station or something. He could hear wheels in the hallway, doors scraping against the floor, people murmuring behind walls. He scrunched his nose against the scent of something, not really sure what the hell it had been to begin with even if it was familiarish. When he did open his eyes to try and focus on Eily again, he got stuck staring at something across the way. The fine print on something medical over on the counter. And he could read it from way over here in his bed…
Maybe it was a strange, medical thing…but even that felt wrong. The medicine they'd given him before this recent nurse's visit was starting to wear off, he was sure of it. He could feel the ache in his arm, duller than he expected since he'd been fucking bitten by a wolf, but still there. His hand went to his eyes and covered them, trying to dull out part of this onslaught of information, but it wasn't working. "…Fuck."
Concern immediately hit, and Eily was up, looking him over. "Are you okay?" she asked. "What's going on?" she asked. It reminded her of Lochlan. He'd been having a hard time too. "God, you're not smelling my perfume too, are you?" she asked, wondering if she needed to go shower before she saw the guys.
"Is that it? Jesus, what is that?" He asked, rubbing his hand over his nose hardly because it didn't just smell like perfume. It was this awful mixture of some sort of perfume and disinfectant, a harsh, stinging smell mixed with that too-sweet something or other and he couldn't handle it. That and the noises and everything else. "Jesus Christ…going home," He said, thinking that if he could just get the fuck out of this place and back to his room, to his bed, then everything would be just fine. There would be no more weird smells or loud noises, nothing but quiet and calm, and he needed to get there now.
God this was confusing. And distressing. The perfume she'd put on yesterday and apparently both of them could smell it. Though Lochlan had liked the scent, clearly Patrick was a whole lot of not a fan. She was trying to figure out what to say when he announced he was going home. "Ohhh no you aren't!" she said, immediately moving to try and keep him on the bed. "At no point is that okay. So no. You're staying here. I'll...I'll go home and shower really fast, or find one here, or something, okay? But you're not going home before they say you can."
"No fucking way, Eily! Park it," He said, voice thicker than usual. He didn't fight too much against her trying to keep him settled, mostly because he could be stubborn and force his sister out of the hospital alone or he could give it up just this once and make sure she stayed where it was safe. "I'll deal," He promised, though he did have his hand back over his nose and his mouth again. "What the fuck….Why is it so loud?"
"You just need to stay here a little while." she said, voice quieter than before. "And I don't know. Lochlan was saying things were kind of...weird too." she admitted. "Maybe I should see if you guys can share a room..." She glanced toward the door. "Do you want me to get a doctor?"
Out of everything he could hear, he definitely got that his sister was quieter, softer, and not in a good way. He didn't want to freak her out on top of all of this so he reached for her arm again and held it as gently as he could manage. "No doc…but maybe sharing a room with Lochlan wouldn't be so bad." If Lochlan was having these same reactions, maybe they could figure this out together. And it would give Eily one less place she'd have to split herself between.
Eily nodded, thinking she'd grab the girls and they'd rearrange the hospital if they had to. But she was positive there were double rooms in here. So, yes. That was a good, good plan. "I'll go let people know my way is the best way to do things, and I want you guys to share a room." she said. "It'll mean you get some quality time together." she said, giving a smile. There was something missing in it, but it was nearly perfect.
Patrick rolled his eyes and dropped back onto the bed. "Great. Looking real forward to it," He grumbled, but turned to look at her. "No leaving the hospital." He said, seriousness in his voice. "Promise. I'll make your ass pinky swear…" He said, though it was obvious he was straining to get these sentences out past all the crap that was washing into his head.
Eily smiled at him, and gave his hand another squeeze. Then she gave him a little kiss on the cheek. "I'll be here. And I'll get on the roomie situation." She looked at him another long, long moment, then turned to head out and do that. She'd feel better if they were together. Then at least they'd have each other to deal with whatever was happening to them.
