Who: Skylar and Clementine
Where: the festival
When: after the auction
Clementine grinned as she won Skylar, standing right up and heading to the stage to collect him. She smiled at him, taking his hand before she said anything and pulling him with her to settle up her debt. Then she turned to him and gave him another big smile. Cute and a dealer. Win, win, win. “Hi. I’m Clementine.”
“Well hey there Clementine,” Skylar greeted with a grin. He fixed his tie for a moment then straightened himself out. “Thank you for bidding on me. I got a little worried, but I wasn’t in this for me, but I would hate not to be able to donate anything to the kids.”
“Well, now the kids have a little piece of Clementine Davis and Clementine Davis has a little piece of...You know she didn’t actually say your name, right? Is it Ace?” She asked, nodding her head over to the side, past the table, as she started to walk away from the crowd. At the very least, she wanted to get to know him and it was easier to do that one on one.
That left Skylar making a face. “Um. Yes. But no. Skylar.” He held his hand out to her as he followed after her. How did she know about him being Ace? Only Jay called him that.
She looked back at him, saw his hand, a beamed a grin as she reached out to take it. “Skylar. What a cool name.” Hand in hand, Clementine turned a little, the full white cotton skirt she wore flaring around around her. “Ok then, Skylar. What’s the plan? Aren’t you supposed to have something planned for us?”
She was still holding his hand. That was different. Not bad, but different. “I don’t think I was supposed to have a plan was I? I come with tickets for the movie theater. Though seems kind of a waste to use them now with the movie being free and all right?” he asked.
“Well this movie might be free but that doesn’t mean I can’t cash those movie tickets in with you another time,” She suggested, looking up at him with a smile. “You could show me the greenhouse? I haven’t really been yet. Or we could play some games, carnival games. I get I’d kick your ass at them,” She teased.
“Definitely not the game. I’ve already had my ass kicked in those,” Skylar said, which reminded him of Ren and he stopped, looking around for her. “I can’t go far.”
“Ok, Mr. Mysterious, why not? Will your clothes turn back into rags? Your shoes don’t look like they’re made out of glass...” Clementine looked around then back at him. “Some other reason you gotta stick close to the festival?”
That made him grin, something slightly crooked. “I promised someone I’d stick around for the movie so she wouldn’t have to be a third wheel.” He shrugged lightly. “Of course I don’t actually know where she is. Or if she’s still looking for me.”
“Wouldn’t this kind of classify as her being the third wheel now or I not allowed to watch the movie with you?” Clementine asked, following his gaze around to try and see if she could see who he meant. “But your friend should join us. The more the merrier, right? And I can cash in on my purchase anytime I want, really. Doesn’t necessarily have to be tonight,” She said, matching his nice grin with one of her own.
“It’s better than being third wheel with the friend she kissed and his new girlfriend?” Skylar offered, thinking that was still crappier than hanging out with him and Clementine. “You can. Actually I think that was the point, you sort of have me on call or whatever.”
Clementine made a wincing sound. Yikes, yeah, that sounds like not fun for her. Well, if you see her, she’s welcome to come join our movie viewing party.” Walking still with him, Clementine smiled again. “On call? I like that,” She said, glancing his way. “Ok, let’s play a game. I’ll say a word and you say the first thing that comes to mind....Yellow.”
“Yeah, I know right? She’s too young but I felt bad.” Skylar ran his free hand through his hair, following after her. “Yellow? Submarine.” That made him grin and hum the song to himself.
“Well, if she wants to join us, you’ll just have to make it up to me later,” She said, grinning a little bit his way. “Ok, good answer. Your turn. Pick a word and I’ll tell you my first thought.”
“Well of course. Just remind me.” Since Skylar had a tendency to get lost in his own head and forget important things. “Bicycle.”
“Built for two. Bicycle built for two, like the song.” She smiled again, still holding his hand, and then reached up with her other to tuck hair behind her ear. “If you want to go find your friend, we can. I’ll just come by the greenhouse tomorrow and cash in on our date.”
“Also good,” Skylar said, looking down at their hands. “I should. I hate for her to get stuck alone. But I like tomorrow. Tomorrow would be fun.”
“Tomorrow, then” Clementine said. She wasn’t one to get hung up on something like this, just as happy with plans to go find him tomorrow as she would be with spending time with him now.
Skylar nodded as he grinned, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand before pulling his hand away from hers. “I’ll see you then.” He took one step backward, then another. “Until then.”
