Seriousness Who: Darcy and Noah Where: Darcy and Avery's House When: Wee hours Warning: NSFW
Noah had had the longest day ever. At least that was how it felt. Which was fine because it had ended okay mostly. All he had to look forward to was the O’Reilly family dinner. He was a little scared about that. What would they think of him? He had no clue what they were hoping for in a boyfriend or whatever he was for Darcy.
He was glad she’d meant it when she said she’d leave the window open. He slid in quietly and pulled the window shut as much as it had been before. Then he stood there, watching her sleep. Avoiding the embarrassment that had ensued when he’d done that during sex type things. He really liked Darcy. So much so that he slid under her covers, mindless of the time, and snuggled in close to her.
She shifted almost unconsciously when he got into bed, drifting closer, letting herself get caught up in his warmth. At first her sleepy thoughts went to Aidan, not that he was much of a cuddler, but more that he was one of the few people she'd willingly shared a bed with in the pas. But that lingering scent of beer and hops that followed Aidan wasn't there, and as waking tugged at her Darcy realized who it was. Turning into Noah's chest she let out a sigh of relief. She hadn't heard from him and honestly she was worried. Shouldn't he have wanted to take her to the party? She hadn't wanted to go, but that didn't mean she wasn't thinking about it after the fact. She'd been worried he'd already been scared off by dinner as well, which she knew was a sign that he wasn't who she thought he was. "Hi," she murmured against him, kissing his chest.
If he'd known she was thinking he was Aidan or that she'd been thinking he should have asked her to the barn thing, Noah might have avoided this, but he had no idea. All he knew was that he wanted to be with her at the end of his day. Which had extended too long and into too much baggage. He'd just hoped that she would be as accepting of his wandering in through her open window as he'd thought she would be. The dinner had left his mind because it was the least of his current worries even if it still was just that - a worry. He didn't want to mess it up but he wasn't thinking about it when he kissed her forehead. "Hi," he echoed. "I'm sorry I woke you." Except he wasn't sorry she was awake.
Darcy blinked up at him sleepily and shook her head. "It's okay. I was starting to worry." She wrapped her arms around him, smiling a little. This made things easier, him here. It was a nice distraction from pending therapy, finding out Aidan was a werewolf and the impending dinner of doom. It was just Noah, warm and solid, and Darcy both mentally and physically clung to him.
Noah felt himself smile some in spite of himself. While he never wanted her to worry about him. the fact she did made sometimes made him feel wanted. Important. He kissed her forehead, his lips lingering sleepily. "I missed you today," he said quietly. He would have liked to have just spent an entire day with her. One of these days he needed to tell her that and make it happen.
Thank everything. If he hadn't, she'd have been more than worried. But he'd missed her and he was here, which meant he wasn't going away. "Missed you too." She leaned up to kiss him, smiling into it. He made her happy, despite all the drama with Liam and Avery and Sylvia, Noah made her happy. "Where were you all day?" She asked as she pulled back enough to see his face.
He smiled a bit more to hear her say she missed him too. Without knowing it she was a balm to his heart. "I was finishing missed schoolwork," he said even though he'd skipped school. It wasn't a lie though. "And then I went ... to see Sylvia at the hospital." That seemed odd. For what felt like so long she'd been gone and unreachable and then suddenly she was back at work.
The whole Sylvia at work thing was just weird. She was hiding, but she was still going to work. That was just nonsense. Darcy fought the urge to shake her head, hoping maybe it just meant she was coming back, though the way Aidan talked about it led her to believe that maybe she wasn't. "How'd it go with her? Things okay?"
He smiled even more to hear her ask that. It was proof positive to him that she was at the very least honestly not wanting to go after Sylvia. And while she might not care for the girl, she cared enough about him to ask how things went. "I think they went okay by the end of it. I kind of made a mess at first but I think things are alright. What did you do today?" Whatever it was, it had to be better than school work and uncomfortable conversations, right?
"How'd you make a mess of it?" At this point, talking about Sylvia was easier than talking about her day. I found out my cousin thinks I'm horrible and wants me to go to therapy! And the other is a rash idiot who turned himself into a werewolf to find your best friend and because it's cool! nothing she wanted to talk about. "School. Talked to Eily about dinner." Which was going to be far worse with Aidan's bit of news.
Noah sighed softly, thinking of the meeting. "I went in angry," he said. "Not exactly the best way to handle it but we figured it out by the end." He hoped. He didn't want to be at peace with it if Sylvia was going to just leave again but she'd said she wouldn't and he had to trust her. "Dinner," he repeated, trying not to sound too worried. "Am I the main dish?"
Darcy propped herself up on one arm, looking at him. "Angry? I thought you were worried." Though it was nice to know she wasn't the only one who could get angry at Sylvia. She felt like that sometimes. It was interesting though, how much easier she handled Sylvia in terms with Noah. She knew he didn't want to be with her romantically and she understood friendships that came out of being out there. It was Sylvia and Aidan that didn't make sense to her, but given that she'd forced herself to trust Aidan, let herself focus on that instead of the anger and confusion, Darcy felt a little more level headed about things. And she could always put this in terms of Noah, who'd just gotten angry at his best friend. "You aren't. She said she'd try and keep them in check. Which was nice of her." Though it had only come after Darcy agreed to the therapy thing.
He nodded, watching her move. He reached out and touched the bottom edge of her hair. "I was worried and then once I saw her I was mad. She just up and left. You know? I mean, sure, you're a little scary," he said, lifting a brow to indicate he was mostly teasing. "But you're not zombie or burning building. She'd never left before. And you and I weren't... us when she did. It was like family not giving a shit anymore." He hoped Darcy could understand what he said without it upsetting her. That was the last thing he wanted. She was kind of his family now in a way. At least, that was how he saw it. "Well that's something, at least," he said with a small smile about not being what was for dinner tonight. "Are you sure they won't eat me anyway?"
Darcy nodded. "I get mad. Worried makes sense too. But mad is okay, though like you said, probably not the best way to start the conversation. Did she tell you where she went? Or why? Or is it just that I'm terrifying?" Darcy shook her head. "They're not cannibals. And more afraid of Eily I think." Hopefully.
He shook his head, touching her arm. It was like he was grounding himself or something by touching her. "She didn't say and I didn't push. I don't need to know or to go and realize she's there with Aidan or something. Awkward. I think it was just that you're terrifying, actually." He half laughed at that because it was close to how he saw it and because it was kind of amusing to him that anyone would be terrified of this beautiful girl. "Maybe I should be afraid of Eily most too then. What's she like?"
That officially made Sylvia ridiculous in Darcy's eyes. And it sounded like someone needed to tell her. Or at the very least confirm that Darcy wasn't some sort of crazy person. "Maybe I'll tell her that I'm not worth being afraid of," Darcy said shaking her head. There was no need for Sylvia to act like this over her. Darcy wasn't going to touch her. "Maybe, but probably not. She's like if a grown up Avery, but less of a pain. Or a different kind of pain. She's sort of bossy and a bit of a martyr, but whatever."
"Believe me, I tried," he reassured. "I don't know what she believes now about you but she was scared of you when you hit her. I don't guess I blame her for that. But she at least accepts that we're ... together." Just like he'd accepted she was with Aidan. Noah breathed a little laugh at her description of Eily. "Avery's a pain? I never noticed. A bossy martyr though. That sounds intimidating."
"You told her we are?" Darcy asked, feeling that pull on her mind about not knowing what she and Noah were. Something. "I really do need to talk to her I guess." At mention of her cousin, Darcy made a face. "Avery and I are not friends right now." Not after going behind Darcy's back. No way.
"She was sure we were after I stayed behind with you briefly in the library and I needed her to be okay with it. To know that I wouldn't be with someone who wanted to hurt her." He believed Darcy when she said she didn't want to do that anymore. "Talk to Sylvia?" That was different. He'd thought she wanted nothing to do with a vampire. "Oh," he said about Avery. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Was she okay with it?" That seemed important. "And yeah. Me. She won't listen to you, so maybe she will listen to me."
"I don't know about okay but she at least allowed that we could both disagree with who the other decided to see." He thought about the possibility of Darcy talking with Sylvia. He wasn't sure how that would work but he wasn't against it. "I'd like it if you two talked and could make peace at least." He didn't expect the moon and stars to move but peace would be good.
"What's wrong with Aidan?" Darcy asked, making a face. She didn't approve of that relationship, but not because Aidan wasn't great. He was wonderful. Weird, maybe, but he was Aidan. He was her best friend. "I'm not promising anything, but maybe I can talk her out of being stupid."
Noah wasn't going to talk badly about her family, but had she really forgotten the statement Aidan had leveled about Noah not caring about Sylvia because he went to sleep eventually and with Darcy no less? Hadn't Aidan made her think she was at fault for Noah being "a bad friend" and losing Sylvia because of it? He didn't like any of that but like he'd said to Sylvia, he didn't have to spend time with the guy. So far he hadn't been an ass to Sylvia and that, he supposed, was what mattered. He simply looked at Darcy and shrugged. "Just being protective of my family, I guess. You know, the way you are of yours. I'm curious to know how you plan to find her."
Darcy hadn't been thinking of those things. She'd really just thought of Aidan with Sylvia and on Aidan's side, the only complaint was that he was too old. The rest was more his lousy taste, but Sylvia should think she was lucky she had him. "I get that I guess. Same boat and all that. He's not all bad though. Just stupid and reckless sometimes." She shrugged. "Same way you did. Go to her work. Or make Aidan set it up. I'll find her." This was becoming important in Darcy's eyes. Sylvia needed to stop being afraid of her so she could stop twisting Noah and Aidan into knots.
Noah didn't want to deter Darcy from going to see Sylvia and talking to her. He thought it was a very good idea but he was concerned that Sylvia might see it as a betrayal somehow on his part if Darcy just showed up where she worked following him doing the same. "Could you set it up through Aidan? It would be more neutral in her eyes and she's probably a lot more likely to trust him about you."
Darcy frowned a little. Aidan was really a last resort because she was pretty sure Sylvia wasn't going to agree to see her. She wasn't even sure that Aidan would agree to set it up. "Instead of just dropping in on her?"
"She's scared of you, Darcy," he said gently. "If you just show up, she might feel cornered. And I guess selfishly, I think she might figure I betrayed her and told you how to find her so you could hurt her again. I don't think you would but I think she does."
Why did no one else think this girl was nuts? Darcy watched Noah then nodded. "I'll ask Aidan." It was a lie, but whatever. She would just tell Sylvia that Aidan let it slip where she worked and call it good. Noah wouldn't be involved and she could talk to the girl and maybe reason with her. Or get to know her as Eily suggested, but Darcy really didn't care to. "I promise I won't hurt her. I won't even yell."
Noah chuckled a little wryly. "Please don't because if you do I have to break this off. I gave my word." The last thing he wanted to happen was for Sylvia to get hurt and the last thing he wanted to do is cut all ties with Darcy.
Darcy raised an eyebrow at him. "You told her you'd stop seeing me if I hurt her?" That sounded like an ultimatum. It made sense, she supposed, but it still sort of hurt that Sylvia was putting ultimatums around her and Noah's relationship.
"It was a promise I made so she'd understand how serious I was about believing you wouldn't hurt her. Because I don't think you're a monster or vicious like that." He turned on his side to look at her more fully.
Darcy frowned, not looking at him. "Are you sure she's not right? What if I am awful?" she asked, glancing at him sideways. It made her think of what Eily had said, and while she didn't need Sylvia to like her, it had her thinking of how awful she was.
If Noah hadn't been looking at her, seen the fact she wasn't looking at him, he would have thought she was being funny. Instead his brows furrowed and his fingers slid along her arm to find her hand. "What do you mean, what if you are? I haven't noticed you being awful."
Darcy sighed softly, still not looking at him, but letting him take her hand. "Just a think I was thinking about. Something Eily said." She sighed again then turned closer to him, wrapping her arms around him.
Noah's eyes darkened and he slipped his arms around her as well. Seriously? Another family member making Darcy feel bad about herself? He was getting even more decidedly nervous about this family dinner. If her family repeatedly made her feel bad about herself, how was he ever going to get out of there unscathed? He was quiet for a beat too long as he thought about that. "You're not awful. Not to me anyway."
His silence made her nervous, wondering what had him so quiet. When he finally did speak, she almost let out a sigh of relief, but held it back. "I think that's just it. I'm not around certain people." For a moment she was quiet, thinking about what Eily had said, but that was dragging her back down into sulking and Noah was here. He was a much better thing to focus on. Pulling back enough to kiss him she did that, focusing on making it a good kiss before she broke it off. "I don't want to think about that anymore. Let's think about something else."
Noah mulled over what she'd said, wondering what she was like with other people. He couldn't imagine her being awful though he had gotten the impression before he'd known her that she was an ice princess. He knew it wasn't the case. Especially when she kissed him like that. He smiled against her lips and let his fingers play with the ends of her hair again. "Think about what anymore?" he asked, meaning he was agreeing with her. No more thoughts about her being awful. "What if we think about this?" he asked and kissed her again.
She knew she was different with her family. She didn't need Aidan to point it out, though he had, but she tolerated other people more than her family. Or maybe she just kept it to herself better. Whatever it was, it was easily forgotten with Noah's kiss, so Darcy went with it, letting out a soft noise when he kissed her, nodding when it broke off. "More of that."
Everything was easily forgotten when they kissed. Noah focused in on her then and they were the only two people who existed for now. He let his hands wander along her back, reactively responding to her with his own soft noise. "Mmhm," he replied and kissed her again, this time putting all of his effort into making it a great kiss.
That definitely did the trick and in no time, Darcy was melting against Noah, letting his kiss send shivers down her spine and make her toes curl. He really was excellent at that sort of thing, and without much more to go on, she wanted more from him. Her fingers pushed at the hem of his shirt, coaxing it up so she could feel more of him, be closer to him, as close as she could get.
He loved it when he could feel her going all soft against him, like her guard was also coming down. He felt goosebumps raise on his stomach as she pushed at his shirt, her fingers brushing skin only she had touched in a long time. It reminded him of the other night and made his skin go warm and sensitive. He nibbled lightly on her lower lip, hoping to incite a little bit more from her.
The nibble did what it intended, earning him a soft moan as her thoughts went to the same place his had. Her hand pressed flat against his stomach for a moment then she was really pushing at his shirt, trying to get it off but not wanting to break off the kiss to do so.
Noah sighed at her touch and wriggled a little to let her have his shirt, only breaking from her lips for a brief second to get it over his head. When he lowered his arms again, he caught her up against him for a moment, wanting her close then releasing her because he more so wanted her fingers on his skin.
Darcy liked that he was so eager to kiss her, liked that his mind was where hers was at the moment. She loved being close to him, but once she had space to, she was running her hands over his chest then pushing at him, trying to get him more on his back and climbing over him.
Noah went easily over onto his back, his hands sliding down against her hips, fingers pushing upward at the bottom of her shirt. He flexed his chest muscles beneath her fingers, giving a little grin. He liked where it had gotten him the last time so he nipped gently at her lips again.
Darcy moved so she was over him, straddling his hips. She loved the feel of his muscles tightening under her fingers and in response she gripped him a little harder, short nails pressing against his skin. As he nipped at her lips she groaned again, but rolled her hips against his thinking two could definitely play at that game.
Noah gasped softly at her nails, another round of goosebumps raising along his skin. His fingers paused just as they found her skin along the edge of her shirt when he heard her, felt her roll her hips and his breath caught, unconsciously lifting toward her in response. Two could play at that game and he let his hands roam along her stomach, fingertips pressing in against her ribs as they traveled upward.
Darcy got the hint and didn't hesitated, pushing up against him enough to be sitting when she took her shirt off for him. There wasn't anything underneath, which left her in just a tiny pair of sleep shorts, smirking down at him, while her hands trailed along his sides, waiting for a reaction.
Noah reacted with a slow smile at the sight of her, his fingers resting on her ribs still. He let his thumbs brush the underside of her breasts and, because she'd stopped kissing him, he rocked his hips a little to encourage her to begin again.
She liked that smile, and found herself arching into his touch with a soft noise. The roll of his hips earned him something sharper, and she found her fingers pulling at his pants before she was leaning in to kiss him again, skin grazing bare skin as she got closer.
Noah heard himself making a less than soft sound in response to her, wondering where it had come from briefly but realizing he didn't care. He didn't have to be quiet, dammit. He let her have his pants, lifting his hips and her with them to slide them off to his boxers beneath. He could feel her through the light shorts she wore and it made him sigh against her lips.
The noise surprised Darcy as well, but she went with it, loving that he was feeling safer around her to enjoy himself. His sigh had her working one hand between them, rubbing him through the thin fabric of his boxers. "Do you want to?" she murmured against his lips, nipping at his lower lip.
Noah's breath came out a bit raggedly, pushing himself up against her touch. Yes, he really wanted to. "Only if you want to," he said back in a rough whisper. He pressed his fingers in against her ribs, his thumbs brushing more of her breasts as he caught her mouth again in a bit of a wild kiss.
Darcy was caught up in the reaction to her he was giving, how he seemed so caught up, his breath taken away by it. She arched into his touches again, making a noise that only got caught in the kiss which she returned eagerly. Only went it broke off because she had to breathe did she answer him. "I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to."
Every sound she made, every time she moved, the tension built up inside him. She was so fucking amazing he couldn't help but want all of her. His teeth grazed her lips before she pulled away and he didn't say anything. He simply looked at her, breathing hard, his eyes saying the very definite yes that the rest of him was now obviously expressing.
Darcy completely knew what that look meant and she was sure she was echoing with one of her own, lips swollen from kisses, eyes half lidded with want. She grinned slightly then lifted up enough to work her way out of the tiny shorts, tugging at his boxers to get Noah to get a move on.
Noah liked the way she was looking at him and he didn't hesitate once she started to move, he had his boxers off quickly, unable to resist touching her legs, fingers sliding up along them to her hips. Dipping lower, because two were still playing this game of spurring each other onward.
Darcy wasn't sure she needed it, but his fingers on her caused a low moan to slip out and a shudder to go through her as her hips twitched towards him, itching for more. His name was on her lips as her eyes fell shut, fingers gripping his chest. She was supposed to be in charge here, but now he had her completely at his mercy.
Noah shivered beneath her, his breath catching in his chest because that entire reaction to his touch probably the best thing he'd experienced with her so far tonight. Instinctively he pressed up against her as she moved. He'd only wanted to touch her, not stop her so he withdrew his fingers toward her hips again, pulling gently at them.
The tug got her back into focus, reminding her that there had been a plan for more than just touches. It only took a moment to situate them and then she was giving them what they both wanted, sinking low on him, fingers gripping his sides as she gasped. It was nothing, but it was also incredible, likely because it was him and she actually cared about him, but Darcy didn't want to focus on anything other than incredible and how to make it more so.
Noah closed his eyes, a low moan in his throat as she sank down onto him. It felt so good that he had to open his eyes again and focus on her, his fingers tightening on her hips. There was nothing else on his mind besides her and wanting her more than he thought he had ever wanted anything. It was everything he could do not to roll her over and take her but at the same time, he wanted her to have the control. Still he couldn't help but roll his hips beneath her, seeking more delicious contact.
Darcy groaned as he moved against her, but caught the intention and started moving, using her grip on his sides for leverage. It was different than the first time, not just because of the change in positions, but also because most of her nervousness had fallen away. he was here for a reason and that reason was her. After a moment Darcy found a decent rhythm, working against him and feeling it build up in her already.
Most of Noah's nervousness had vanished as well this time around, knowing she wanted him to touch her, and blissfully no longer thinking about anything but this moment. As she moved, Noah felt stress leaving him even as tension built up in his muscles. He bit his lip, hearing soft sounds escape unbidden as he lifted up to meet her rhythm.
That he was making those noises was new and thrilling and Darcy really liked them. Screw it if Avery heard. That hardly mattered when he was moving against her like that. It made Darcy go a little faster, wanting more and moaning with the new pace. After a few thrusts she twisted her hips more, gasping at the new feel of him from the different angle.
Noah was losing himself in this almost completely. He was beyond caring if how he sounded or looked was embarrassing and he sure as hell didn't think she was anything but beautiful as he looked up to her from beneath half-closed dark lashes. When she shifted herself his eyes closed completely for a moment, a louder sound catching him off guard but he fairly grinned at it. He might have sworn under his breath too, his head lifting slightly to find her mouth.
That was perfect, that noise and him swearing. So she did it again, moving harder, and maybe a little faster. When he shifted, she kissed him until she was moaning again against his lips. It was building again, that sensation and she had an urge to just get there, as quickly as she could.
He was sure he swore this time when she shifted and began moving faster. Her mouth a welcome place to echo her moans with his own as the tension built to heights he wasn't sure he ever wanted to come down from. He was all for getting there as quickly as possible this time, breaking from her lips momentarily to catch his breath, her name escaping when he began to feel so close to letting go.
Darcy was so close, hearing her name on his lips and then she was echoing the intent with his name. And then all at once she wasn't close, but there, crying out louder than she would mean to and shuddering with it until her rhythm was completely off.
Noah moved up against her a couple last thrusts before he was beyond the edge, shuddering with her, unaware the he might have been making more noise than she was at this point. That fact having him feeling freer than he'd ever felt when he'd gotten to this point. He held onto her wherever he happened to find her with his arms, fairly clinging to her.
As it passed, Darcy was grinning, resting against his chest as her breath came in gasps, pressing a kiss against his chest. Avery might have heard that she was home and not off with Finn, but Darcy couldn't care at all. She was fine with him clinging, thinking of it as something else entirely. Here she could hear his heart beating, reminding her that he was real, solid, and with her.
Noah closed his eyes, trying to stop the stupid grin that wanted to form on his face as he attempted to catch his breath, but he was failing because wow. He breathed in softly at her kiss and his hands gently rubbed along her back now, no longer clinging, but wanting her to stay close. Words started to form on his tongue but he stayed silent a moment longer, simply soaking her in.
Darcy could definitely stay like this forever. The afterglow was fantastic, something to get lost in, letting her other issues fall by the wayside. What more did she need when she had Noah here, keeping her grounded and being like a rock in the storm.
Noah couldn't even begin to remember what had brought him to her tonight other than this. He had seven thousand thoughts that he wanted to say to her but still he kept quiet. Were there people outside of this? Was there an existence that didn't include how good he felt? He doubted it as he kissed her so softly.
The silence had drawn on a little long, long enough for her to look up at him, searching for his eyes. The kiss was sweet, but not quite enough. "You okay?" she asked finally, leaning in to kiss his jaw before going back to searching his eyes.
All his eyes could say were the words he wasn't saying. The things he felt about her and how much what they'd just done had felt so good and meant a lot too. "Mm," he replied, still fighting that stupid grin though her question gave him some pause. "Are you?"
"I am," she promise, trying not to flush at that look in his eyes. It was intense, really intense, and it had her wondering how he could look at her like that and not define them. "I'm yours, aren't I Noah?" she asked after a moment, reaching for the blanket to pull over them, and propping her chin on his chest so she could still see him.
"Is that what you want?" he asked even though his mind was pretty much just saying yes. She was his, that was how he felt. He was grateful for the blanket, goosebumps of a different sort covering his skin once they weren't moving anymore. Still he looked at her the same way.
Darcy traced circles on his chest, watching her finger for a moment before looking up at him. "It is. I can't...I already think of you like that." Just the thought made her blush and she tried to hide it behind her hair.
Noah couldn't help but smile a little at her. He liked that. Maybe he even needed her to think that way about him. He nodded. "I'm yours too," he said simply. He didn't want anyone else. She had been a surprise, an unexpected gift in the midst of a lot of crap going on in his life.
"Good," Darcy said, letting the worry that he might have someone else fall by the wayside. She kissed him again then settled against his shoulder, snugging for warmth.
Noah briefly wondered what had her asking any of that but it just felt good to have her there in his arms, up against him, in the wake of having had really great sex. Again he wanted to say things but he held his tongue instead he let his fingers play in her hair. "Darcy."
Darcy looked up at him when he said her name. "What's is it?" She asked, voice soft, just gently curious what he was thinking of.
He couldn't think of a good reason to have said her name. Other than it had felt right. He smiled some and shook his head. "You're beautiful."
That just made her smile, hiding her blush in his shoulder. "Even like that?" She asked, feeling she might have looked ridiculous just moments before.
At no point did he not think that about her so he shook his head even if all she'd know of it was if she felt his shoulder moving a bit. "Well, at the risk of embarrassing you again, I'd say especially like that."
She peeked up at him, blushing still. "Good then?" She felt silly, grinning a little then giving him a kiss. She rolled back, onto her side and next to him with a soft groan. "Are you staying?"
Noah nodded a bit emphatically only to be stopped by her kiss. He made a soft mmph as she moved but it was a good sound. A good feeling that she stayed close. He was pretty sure he didn't want to get up and face the cold outside anytime soon. "Very much staying."
Darcy nodded sleepily, pulling the blankets up more around them and curling against him for warmth. "Good. I'm starting to think I never want to sleep alone." Not when Noah was an option to sleep next to.
He was pretty sure he wasn't interested in sleeping alone either knowing his house was empty except for him and because this was so much better. "Good thing you don't have to then if you don't want to," he murmured and pushed himself closer to her.
She looked up at him, slightly surprised. "You sound like you're fine with always staying with me," she told him, smiling a little. "Which isn't bad." Maybe that meant it was getting serious. Which was actually not as bad a thought as she thought it might not be.
Maybe he did feel that serious about her but she sounded surprised and maybe it was way too soon. So he played it off with a shrug. "Who would pass this up over an empty bed?" he asked, his fingers dancing lightly against her hip very briefly, an impish expression on his features for a moment.
She smiled back and kissed him. "No sane person," she agreed, fighting that twinge of sadness that didn't make sense to have that lingered below the surface. It didn't seem to be serious. He was hers and that was what mattered.
He returned her kiss, the seriousness still on his mind and perhaps some of it was communicated in it. "I'm very grateful to be as sane as they come," he said, a hint of a smile in his tone, as he tucked several red strands behind her ear.
That kiss was different and took her breath away, leaving her staring at him. "I..." She couldn't find the words and was left confused and staring. "Noah..."
He hadn't been aware that what he was thinking had translated over so he returned her confusion. "What?" he asked quietly.
Darcy was watching him, reached up to stroke his cheek gently. "What have you been thinking about?" She asked finally, thinking that was the best question to get some explanation around the kiss and maybe why he'd been so oddly quiet. He was always quiet but after being so vocal while they were together, the change felt more significant.
He'd been mostly quiet because he felt really good and really sleepy. But he didn't mind talking with her in the least. He'd stay up all night with her if she wanted. "I was thinking about you. How much I like you," he said simply, turning his face to kiss her fingers.
Darcy blushed and leaned more into him. "How much is that?" She ran her thumb over his lower lip, just relishing in the feel of it.
He caught her thumb playfully between his teeth just to tease her then he kissed it. "A lot," he answered honestly, feeling like he didn't have to hide that because it seemed obvious to him even if he was quiet about it.
She giggled lightly at him biting her thumb, smiling at what he said, feeling her stomach flip a little. "Me too." She'd been quiet about things as well, but it was true on her part.
He smiled at her, pushing his hair aside with his arm as he propped it under his head. "Yeah?" he asked, his smile turning into a grin. He didn't know entirely why but that made everything feel infinitely better.
"Yeah," Darcy said blushing a little, but smiling as well. She leaned up to kiss him, shifting closer. "Would suck to not really like my boyfriend wouldn't it?"
Noah liked it when she blushed. It felt like there was a seriousness of her own behind what she was saying when she did it. "It would very much suck if you didn't really like me," he said before he realized she'd said 'boyfriend.' He couldn't say he didn't like the sound of it. There was even more belonging in that word than simply being hers.
"Right?" Darcy said with a tiny laugh before kissing him again. He hadn't gotten hung up on the word, just admitted it was him and really, that was pretty damn nice. She inched closer, closing her eyes and wrapping an arm around his waist with a contented sigh.
He made a small, happy sound when she kissed him. This was rather perfect and he didn't want it to end. "Boyfriend, though," he said thoughtfully, thinking on that now as his fingers traced gentle circles on her shoulder.
He sounded happy, but as he said that, she frowned. "Is that okay?" She asked looking up at him, hoping it was, but steeling herself the fact that it might not be.
Noah didn't want her to frown so he touched her brow and pressed at it gently to smooth it out. It was a little childlike but he was smiling. "It's good," he said and gave her another somewhat serious kiss.
The kiss helped, something else to get lost in and for a long moment that was all she needed. When she pulled back her breathing was labored, but there was a hint of a smile on her features. "Is that something you want?"
Noah breathed softly as she pulled away from the kiss. It had almost got him thinking of going for round two. "I want you so yes," he said truthfully and nodded.
Darcy made a tiny face at that. "It's supposed to be more than that," she chastised gently, but it was nice to be wanted. Really nice.
"How much more is it supposed to be?" he asked, not entirely sure. "I've never been one before unless you count the girl in kindergarten who kissed my elbow on the playground." He laughed lightly at the distant memory.
"I've never had one either, but you can want someone and not want to be with them. It's supposed to be more than sex. If it's not it's okay! But I'd think boyfriend is more than that."
Oh she'd mistaken what he'd said to mean he was talking about sex. He half smiled. "When I said I want you I meant all of you. The whole package."
That left Darcy feeling a little silly, but thrilled at the same time. He wanted more. All of her. She was blushing again, but ignored it as she kissed him happily.
Darcy didn't reciprocate his sentiment but that was okay with him. He didn't mind wanting her more if that was the case. He liked the happiness in her kiss and sent some back at her with a smile.
Darcy drew the kiss out until she couldn't breathe and then she was falling back, grin on her face. Happiness just leaked through her, leaving her pleased with him and everything it else, pulling him towards her and maybe over her a little more than before. She wanted him close, to feel him pressed against her.
If she was going to keep kissing him like that he was very definitely going to want round two. He was grinning and breathless by the end of it, moving closer to her. He relished the way her skin felt against his, his fingers trailing over her shoulder and throat.
Darcy reached up and twisted her fingers in his hair, leaning up to kiss him softly. "I want you too." It was barely a whisper, but honest.
He sighed as her fingers found his hair and he curled slightly against her. It meant more than he could say to hear her say she wanted him too. "Girlfriend," he said with a pleased smile.
Darcy nodded, liking that title. "Definitely." She leaned up and kissed him, then pulled him closer so they could cuddle together.
Noah kissed her forehead and her nose as she snuggled in close. He shifted slightly so he could tangle his legs with hers. "I'm glad I decided to come over even though it's so late."
"Me too." She sighed happily as she settled, feeling sleep pull at her, but not fighting it this time.
