As promised, and with the help of Isaac, Khirit had made the arrangements for the party. If there was one talent the Maenad truly had, it was throwing a good bash. And what better reason than the full moon that was speeding toward them? The next day the circus’s shifters would all be in its thrall, so it was much better to enjoy the night before that happened.
She had likened the moon to a breaking wave, and it felt that way. She could feel the power of it growing with each passing moment, waxing just as the moon itself did. The witches would use the power of the full moon for their shellwork; the shifters would use it to complete their monthly cycle of connection to their feral roots. It was only fitting that the fae used the full moon for her own purposes, and all the better if her revelry provided enjoyment for everyone else.
The bonfire was large, but controlled; there was no danger of the fire escaping to harm anything else, at least without the intervention of someone else. There was a grill set up with piles of steaks and seafood being cooked, as well as vegetables. Khirit had provided an abundance of faerie wine, a clear beverage served in delicate crystal glasses. Cool and sweet, as refreshing as morning dew and as potent as moonshine — moreso, actually. The Maenad provided warnings here and there if she saw anyone over-indulging (although she didn’t really believe in such a thing) but for the most part left people to their own devices.
Khirit herself was drinking freely, enjoying bits of food here and there, and of course dancing with those who she had promised to dance with. She was bright and clearly enjoying herself, pleased with the ‘sacrifice’ of this revelry that she had made for her god.
