They looked thoughtful, imagining the coffee cup as Sloane described it. "I think I'd try it once, just to say I did." It went without saying that afterwards they'd probably have an immediate date with their toothbrush.
"You're absolutely right," Alix agreed, smiling down at Sloane with chin tipped enough that they could see her over their lenses. "Learnt a long time ago that most things aren't worth getting worked up about."
And they didn't like who they were when they were angry. They'd managed plenty of splintered wood and broken glass even before becoming a shifter. To tempt that beast now would be ruinous for everything within arm's reach.
"That's why I like you." Alix nudged her with their arm, ignoring the fact that Sloane's bubbliness had come to near-grating on more than one occasion. She couldn't help it, Alix thought. And she was very, very cute at it. "You're easy to get along with. Not one of those people who loves to be angry. I'm glad we're hanging out."
That part, at least, wasn't a lie. Now that they'd been successfully pulled off the roof, dressed, and dragged onto a train, they were excited for the day to come. "So thanks, for making me make good on my promise."
