"I mean, yeah it's ramen," Sloane said, shrugging. "But the difference between the instant stuff and the good stuff is like, the difference between a McDonald's hamburger and one you make yourself from really fresh, high quality meat, and fresh veggies to top it, and like, you toast the bun with garlic butter. McDonald's has a time and place for sure but the good shit is the good shit, you know? Like with all the extra stuff in it like pork and bean sprouts and the jammy egg? God the jammy egg is where it's at."
She let her mind wander down dreamy hallways filled with steaming bowls of fresh ramen, led by her nose like a hungry cartoon, then brought her brain back to the conversation when Alix spoke again. "Just the two," she confirmed. "Half brothers. My mom was married to their dad before they got divorced and she married mine and had me." It was strange how it had worked out; she'd never met her brothers' dad, but her own dad had seemed to be so much more of a match to them than he ever had to her. They all shared something together that she simply didn't.
Shrugging it off, she tugged on Alix's arm a little. "What about yours?" she asked. "How many brothers do you have? Any other siblings yourself?"
