There were so many words coming out of Sloane. Alix paused in dressing to scrub the heels of their hands against their eyes, trying to summon wakefulness from the depths. It was clear that they weren't getting back to sleep, nor would they be allowed to stay in. Alix had promised, and now they had to pay up.
"Okay," they exhaled once they'd scrubbed and stretched and wriggled into the pants they'd shed earlier. "Okay, okay. I'm coming."
Climbing down from the roof was an exercise in coordination they weren't prepared for, but they managed to make it to the ground half-dressed and without harming themselves. Sloane looked positively pristine and effervescent in comparison, plus several other adjectives that all meant bubbly.
"Gimme a sec, babe." Did they want a surprise? Alix scratched the back of their head as they thought about it, then shook their head. "Nah, you don't have to tell me." Food, friends, fun—that was enough. They turned towards the door of their tiny home and stepped inside, waving Sloane in after them. "Tell me what kind of activities I'm dressing for and give me five, then we can go."
